Not Jadon. Wouldn't be my choice anyway.

bridgetreilly · 21/09/2017 09:24

Noah Matthew is lovely.

CamperVamp · 21/09/2017 09:28

I mean, know Jadon is a biblical name, but it is much less well known so nowadays it looks and sounds like a yoonique spelling of Jayden, which you may be fine with, but I would find a hassle from the constant spelling it out POV.

euanthesheepiloveyou · 21/09/2017 09:28

Very few people will realise that Jadon is a biblical name & you'll get lots of lovely mumsnet ' that's so chavvy' comments. 😐 If you like it, go for it, OP. People will never be so rude in real life. However he will have a lifetime of correcting people when they call him Jayden (which is not a name I'm keen on, personally)...so although it's very overused at the mo, I'd go for Noah.

lindylove14 · 21/09/2017 09:29

My guess is that the OP is either very religious or American. Am I right OP? Jadon, to British ears and outside of strongly Christian communities, does sound rather chavvy IMHO.
I much prefer Noah; you asked for MN’s opinion and we’ve given it, but at the end of the day, it’s your baby and your choice.

WhatInTheWorldIsGoingOn · 21/09/2017 09:46

Jadon might well be a biblical name and because you know and like the name it's just sounds 'normal' to you. Unfortunately, due to the amount of unusual spellings of names, people absolutely will read it as Jayden. To me they sound very very different so perhaps your little one wouldn't even recognise it as their name if called it, or would repeatedly x1000 have to correct people. There is a little Al'bee around here and people would probably put it in a similar category.

For me the name Jadon would be in the category of Ja'don almost. Like names such as Da'Sean, Le'Ron etc. Not a bad name at all but will make people faulter over the pronouncation.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 21/09/2017 10:43

Jayden Matthew.

Alfieee · 21/09/2017 10:54

@Badders08 Jadon is also in the bible? Confused

I didn't ask for opinions, I asked which one you would pick. I have no issue you not liking it, but sprouting stupid facts I will question.

OP posts:
Alfieee · 21/09/2017 10:55

Yes, we are religious.

Alfieee · 21/09/2017 10:57

@WaitrosePigeon it's a biblical name, that's what it is.

I can't believe how rude or uneducated people are!

froomeonthebroom · 21/09/2017 11:10

Jadon (whichever way you spell it) is a naughty boy name around here.

Lottey90 · 21/09/2017 11:10

It's not about being rude or uneducated. You didn't specifically say you wanted a one word answer.

Just trying to be helpful. Call him jadon if you want.

Badders08 · 21/09/2017 11:15

But not pronounced jaydon iirc?
Anyway - I prefer Noah

Badders08 · 21/09/2017 11:16

Maybe ask your pastor or other religious people if we are so rude and uneducated????.....

CarlHickbread · 21/09/2017 11:19

I never understand why people post these threads then get narky when others have an opinion that is anything other than positive.

saritah · 21/09/2017 11:22

OP, people are simply pointing out the connotations of Jadon. As euanthesheep said, it may be a religious name but that's not how most (presumably rude and uneducated?) people will see it. It's a bit silly to ask a question on a forum and then say you don't want opinions!

Ummmmgogo · 21/09/2017 11:26

I thought op meant that it's rude and uneducated to call jadon/Jayden a dreadful, common Jeremy Kyle name. and tbf she does have a point!

Twistmeandturnme · 21/09/2017 11:29

I'd expect people to pronounce Jadon like Jason. If that isn't correct it's likely that your little boy will spend half his life correcting it.
I do like them both though. Noah has the edge for me because although it isn't too unusual I haven't seen any tiny ones for a while, whereas Jayden (I know it's not the same but to the ear...) is still very popular.

Badders08 · 21/09/2017 11:30

Op asked which people preferred.
Posters told her and gave reasons.
Op doesn't like said opinions.
As I said...perhaps he should ask more religious less "uneducated" people??

Alfieee · 21/09/2017 11:32

@Ummmmgogo that's exactly what I meant! But I only asked which one you'd pick... There was no need for such odd replies. If someone asked me to pick between 2 names, it would be completely irrelevant for example for me to start talking about people from my school and that's why I hate both names Confused you just say which one you prefer. Of course you can type whatever you want but it's odd to do so and waste your time.

OP posts:
Alfieee · 21/09/2017 11:34

@Badders08 don't be ridiculous. 1) I'm a she and 2) to call Jadons Jeremy Kyle, cha by is rather uneducated.

OP posts:
Alfieee · 21/09/2017 11:34

*chavvy

Sigh
What are you talking about??? Op means original poster!
What on earth did you think it meant??
Please refer specifically to where I said jadon was "chavvy..."

Alfieee · 21/09/2017 11:39

Yes they are my final names.

The reason I'm confused is people are putting it in with Jayden... It's literally like me saying Noah/Nowah are basically the same name.
