Help me decide between two names

Opinions positive and negative will really help as feeling quite stuck......

Eva Rose or Edith Rose

Essentially Eva or Edith since the middle name won't get much of an outing!

I have a preference and DH has his but we do like them both.

Thanks!

I have a 99 year old great grandmother called Evelyn, a 70 year old grandma called Evelyn and a newborn called Evelyn so I will disagree with it being 'the 2010-2020 Tracey' myself.

Both pretty but love the nn Edie more than I like the name Edith

CherriesInTheSnow · 13/07/2017 18:50

Edith/Edie - I love it! Our second baby is a boy, but I was stuck between Edie and Luna for a girl :)

ButterfliesandMoths · 13/07/2017 18:54

Edith, traditional & beautiful name.

daisypond · 13/07/2017 20:26

Edith. Or how about Edina or Edwina if you want to keep the Anglo-Saxon vibe without being too out there?

PandaCat · 13/07/2017 23:22

I would go with Edith, purely because there are quite a lot of Evas 🙈

MagnumAddict · 15/07/2017 11:33

Sincerely, thank-you to everyone for your opinions. It has been really useful and I feel like we are close to making a decision!

To those who have offered alternatives, thanks but it will definitely be Edith or Eva although interestingly (to me at least!) wobbling over middle names now. Trying out Pearl and Skye and a few others in my mind although the main thing I wanted to decide on was the first name.

Almost there! I will definitely come back to the thread when we have 100% decided.

Just wanted to say that both names are beautiful. My personal preference is Eva but that is coloured by an (ex) friend called Edith.

LeonoraFlorence · 15/07/2017 11:52

I prefer Eva :) DD3 was most put out when we didn't name DD5 this. She's hoping for a DD6 now. She will have to remain content to name every dolly she has Eva, I'm afraid!

Cami12 · 17/07/2017 04:55

Edith by far. Love the nn Edie. Eva is pretty but a little over done imo.

LucyWilliams · 17/07/2017 15:45

Eva Rose.

SheSaidHeSaid · 17/07/2017 16:47

Edith.

Eva is a lovely name but there seem to be so many around at the moment so might be nice to have a name which is heard less frequently.

FizzyGreenWater · 17/07/2017 17:24

Eva/Evie/Eve is going to be TOTALLY a name of this generation, nice though it is - in thirty years, it will be like being called Claire or Kelly in the 80s.

Edith.

Pemba · 17/07/2017 17:51

Eva is lovely, it's only the current popularity that could be a negative. But it's so nice, and is it even as common as Evie or Ava?

Edith ... well, objectively it has a nice sound so I should like it. But somehow in my head it still has a very strong 'bossy old lady' vibe.

pilates · 17/07/2017 18:06

Edith Rose

buttercup54321 · 19/07/2017 00:28

Eadie is better imo

LJFM2B · 19/07/2017 10:32

I LOVE Edie and Eva and Rose is a lovely combination with both

ifeellikechickentonight · 19/07/2017 16:18

I love Edith Rose, this was a strong contender for DD1. Nn Edie- just lovely. Eva is nice although I prefer Evie. Evelyn Rose?

WhyNotDuckie · 19/07/2017 16:21

Edith Rose would be my preference...a lovely name!

akorda · 19/07/2017 20:28

As others have said, Edie(Edith) is much less popular BUT I think Eva is a much nicer-sounding name

dillytilly · 19/07/2017 20:30

Edith is lovely!

lakeswimmer · 19/07/2017 21:16

My DD is Eva. It's interesting that so many are dismissing it as popular as I don't know any others and whenever I look for gifts (pens etc) with kids names on them for DD I've never found anything with Eva on it!

tellmeaboutharlow · 19/07/2017 21:17

Edith is my middle name and was first choice if DS had been DD. Edith Marie was our variation. Love it!

UserThenLotsOfNumbers · 19/07/2017 21:22

Edith.

lolalotta · 19/07/2017 21:22

My DD has an Edith in her class, it's shortened to Edie xxx

n0ne · 19/07/2017 21:29

Adore Edith! Eva is nice too, but Edith is beautiful.
