Opinions positive and negative will really help as feeling quite stuck......

Eva Rose or Edith Rose

Essentially Eva or Edith since the middle name won't get much of an outing!

I have a preference and DH has his but we do like them both.

Thanks!

I had a great aunt Evie, short for Evelyn. Edith feels refreshing.

Alice Marina b 1913
Evelyn Helena b 1915

All lovely names.

Tricky, a lot of the opinions are echoing my own thoughts!

I really love the name Eva but worry about it becoming a name of the era if that makes sense. My own name is very 80's as opposed to classic. Another concern is popularity although my sons name is top 10 and we have yet to come across another one. Eva is significantly lower on the charts although may seem more popular because of the other variants, Ava, Eve, Evie etc

Edith I see as a more classic name although possibly slightly more old fashioned. I love Edith Rose but worry I don't love Edith as much on its own. I think Edie is cute when pronounced Eed-ee but where I live it would be Eed-eh which I don't think sounds as nice plus my son has a longer name we don't abbreviate so might be a bit odd to use an abbreviation for DD and use ds full name.

Or I may be over thinking massively and need to pick one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for reading if you managed through my rambling

Edith Rose sounds lovely.

OhTheRoses · 12/07/2017 21:00

Why don't you call her Helena. Nn Helly or Nel? Their mother was Eleanor Helena, doesn't scan well but she was known as Nell. I think It's rather charming. Nell's sister's were Bella (Isabel), Grace (Gracey) and Jane (Janey). Bro' s Frankie, Johnny and Billy.

Wilhelminaaa · 12/07/2017 21:22

Edith... Love possible nn Edie, and there are plenty of DDs called Eva now.

NoncommittalToSparkleMotion · 12/07/2017 21:23

Oooh, tough one!

Eva. I love both but Edith will date more as "when everyone had granny chic names."

BraveBear · 12/07/2017 22:41

I really love the name Eva but worry about it becoming a name of the era if that makes sense.

I agree with Noncommital that Edith is more likely to date badly.

How about the pp's posters suggestion of Evelyn, with Eva as a nn?

marmitecrumpets · 12/07/2017 22:54

Edith

Sophronia · 12/07/2017 23:37

Edith

indigox · 12/07/2017 23:38

Edith

Kazzawazza69 · 12/07/2017 23:39

Eva, even though it is quite popular, Edith is too "granny" for me.

17caterpillars1mouse · 13/07/2017 07:32

I like both but prefer Edith as there are so many Evie names about at the moment. I find Rose so dull in the middle name but each to their own

Ilovewillow · 13/07/2017 07:59

Edith Rose was my grandmas name so this would be my favourite! I also know an Eadie. Eva is pretty too!

FluffyMcCloud · 13/07/2017 08:02

Both beautiful names and I only know one Eva who is 14 so I'm not sure about over popular where I live!
I think I prefer Edith but only just...

Mothervulva · 13/07/2017 08:05

I much prefer Edith of those, infact DD2 was going to be Edith. However I had a change of heart as I'm really not keen on Edie.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 13/07/2017 09:07

How about Eden Rose, you could still have Edie ?

DaisyDaisydoo · 13/07/2017 09:21

Edith, 100%

Itsaninlawsone · 13/07/2017 09:24

Eva is my favourite girls name.

thisismadness77 · 13/07/2017 09:30

Both are lovely. I like Eden too

Shiftymake · 13/07/2017 10:44

Both names are beautiful and along the line of names I would use. Think I would personally go with Edith Rose, as it isn't mainstream

toledanosunshie · 13/07/2017 10:50

Eva, Edith is just dreadful, the worst of the old lady names

glitterlips1 · 13/07/2017 10:52

Eva for me don't mind Edie but really dislike Edith. I just don't find it a very pretty name.

TurquoiseOwl · 13/07/2017 13:36

I hate Eva, it's so overdone. Therefore, Edith Rose by default, but Eden Rose would be even better. I like the NN Edie Smile

pawpatrolfan · 13/07/2017 17:50

Omg so coomin please avoid Eve names are the 2010-2020 sarah or Tracey just no more

Boring

!
Helena is lovely

Flofferton · 13/07/2017 17:52
