Evamarie or Aisling?

Currently pregnant with baba number 2 and me and DH are are currently sifting through baby names. We have a 1 year old Leo, and we're only 5 weeks pregnant so still early days before we know the sex but if it's a boy we've settled on Sam, just need a girls name now! It's between Evamarie (one name) and Aisling, pronounced Ash-ling (DH is Irish). Really like both names but can't choose so some opinions could really help if possible. Brianne/Brianna isn't out of the mix either. Thank you xx

Evamarie isn't a name.

Aisling is lovely but quite a lot of people won't know how to pronounce it.

RuggerHug · 07/07/2017 09:09

I love Aisling(am irish though). Evamarie is lovely but I adore irish names so would vote for Aisling out of the two. Smile

Evamarie is a name! Not a common one granted but prefer it spelled this way over Eva-Marie xx

I would just go with Eva. Eva and Leo sound great together.

Evamarie - I just think it looks wrong. Eva Marie is better

leighdinglady · 07/07/2017 09:20

I love Aisling

Decaffstilltastesweird · 07/07/2017 09:27

AISLING, AISLING, AISLING! I love it.

Argeles · 07/07/2017 09:31

Evamarie.

Aisling holds no personal appeal for me.

Desperad0 · 07/07/2017 09:53

Aisling- I love it!

27Harper · 07/07/2017 09:53

Aisling seems to be the favourite so far! Also trying to sort out a middle name. Does Aisling Elora work well? Any suggestions? xx

Aisling

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 07/07/2017 10:01

Evamarie.
A similar name, is Elmarie.
Not keen on Aisling.

tabulahrasa · 07/07/2017 10:09

I've never met an Aisling that pronounced it like that, is it not ashleen?

Or I should it one of those names that's different in different parts of Ireland?

NoNeedToArgue · 07/07/2017 10:10

My middle name is Aisling. I do like it. Have you considered Ailish? I adore it and kind of wish I'd used it!

NoNeedToArgue · 07/07/2017 10:10

I've never heard it pronounced Ashleen!

27Harper · 07/07/2017 10:13

@tabulahrasa that's odd I've only heard it pronounced Ash ling. Definitely how it's pronounced in Ireland but I guess it depends on how you wish to pronounce it xx

Aisling definitely!

MeltingSnowflake · 07/07/2017 10:16

We have an Aisling in our family - Ashie for short, which I like.

Love Eva, but not keen on Evamarie.

petitesassygirl · 07/07/2017 10:18

What about Eilidh. ?? Pronounced Aylee Irish and very pretty

27Harper · 07/07/2017 10:23

Eilidh is really pretty! Just never knew how to pronounce it lol. Might consider that for a middle name now xx

If you're after suggestions op, one of my absolute favourite Irish girl names is Ailis (can also be spelt Ailish).

27Harper · 07/07/2017 10:28

Ailish is really pretty too! So many pretty Irish names xx

Eva Marie is really nice (a la Eva Marie Saint) but Evamarie is weird and made up and not a name.

SerfTerf · 07/07/2017 10:34

Also, the pronunciation of Eva Marie or Eva-Marie is clear to any English speaker, but "evamarie" looks like it should be pronounced differently.

27Harper · 07/07/2017 10:46

Wow, no love for my unique spelling lol xx
