Yoshi or Taiga?

Sister is Sakura Smile

We love Taiga (it makes us think of the forest) so it goes well with his sister's name. Have always loved Yoshi though.

Which would you pick? Thank you!

Taiga used to associate with a Russian forest to me from geography lessons and that is nice.
But now its a made up rapper name who is dating one of the kardashians ( too much daily mail lol). And it sounds so ridiculous

Id go for Yoshi

goldenrachita · 14/02/2017 14:19

I also love Japanese names. Yoshi is so ridiculously cute!

ThoraGruntwhistle · 14/02/2017 14:44

I prefer Taiga because of the whole Yoshi video game thing. Sakura is a beautiful name too, by the way Smile

rightsofwomen · 14/02/2017 14:49

Sakura - one of the few words Japanese words I know. I have been in Mishima at sakura time.

I would pick Yoshi.

Camelopardtoes · 14/02/2017 14:58

My DS NN was yoshi, no Japanese heritage...just always loved the little dinosaur Grin super cute name

Florrie21 · 14/02/2017 16:47

I prefer Taiga, purely due to the mario connection and yoshis woolly world etc but either works well with their sister's beautiful name.

Lemondrop09 · 21/02/2017 16:15

Sakura is my all time, most favourite Japanese girls name. I absolutely love it!

Yoshi is by far the best name. Yes, there is a Mario connection, but almost any name has a connection to something and this connection isn't particularly negative. Yoshi is a brilliant name and goes well with Sakura. Go for that!

MommaGee · 21/02/2017 17:02

should probably ask Japanese people's opinion me and my Sri Lanka friend both love the same girls names, fairly sure my Malaysian friend d has an opinion on my sons name. Why does being English man we can't give an honest perspective even if it's just I don't like it

Taiga I would assume is some "" modern"" spelling of Tiger a D I would imagine if given over the phone would get misspelled a lot.
Yoshi is cute.
Wouldn't worry about the name associations, there's plenty of Jack's and he was an infamous murderee

JaxingJump · 21/02/2017 17:09

Yoshi is a nice strong name. I don't like Taiga, it doesn't read or sound well spoken compared to Yoshi.

Hiro? Taka? Too ordinary?

JaxingJump · 21/02/2017 17:10

Taiga is not a modern spelling of Tiger! Lol!

MommaGee · 21/02/2017 17:20

I know it isn't. But if I saw it on the school register, without reference to a Japanese surname, that's what I'd think. Perhaps that makes me thick but it still would considering all the yoonique /modern rewriting of various names and I wouldn't call my son Tiger so hence why I prefer Yoshi

TobleroneBoo · 21/02/2017 17:25

Taiga :)

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 21/02/2017 19:31

Yoshi is adorable but I think Taiga possibly works best with Sakura (which is quite possibly one of the most beautiful names I've ever seen). I don't know! I dont envy you having to choose, OP.

Strokethefurrywall · 21/02/2017 20:42

Both are great, I have a friend nicknamed Yoshi, but I think Taiga goes better with Sakura.

Either way you can't go wrong!

Xing5 · 23/02/2017 09:52

We have decided on Taiga, after visiting the zoo and their tiger enclosure was called Tiger Taiga. We just found it went well with Sakura and they are both nature related. We are definitely happy with the choice!

Thank you Smile

Yoshi or Taiga?
TobleroneBoo · 23/02/2017 10:36

Excellent choice, was it Colchester Zoo?

Xing5 · 23/02/2017 11:22

Yes! Smile

lemureyes · 23/02/2017 12:04

Yoshi all the way! This is my husband's nickname, I have used it for so long it feels like I'm calling a stranger if I use his real name!

TanteRose · 23/02/2017 12:09

Aww Xing he's gorgeous!

crapfatbanana · 23/02/2017 18:04

Gorgeous baby Taiga!

Dolwar · 23/02/2017 18:11

My japanese friend is called Keiko.......I think it's a pretty name for a girl.

CoffeeDiamonds · 23/02/2017 18:42
