Brekken and?

We have a son named Brekken, so we like unusual names. Brekken is a lovely village in Norway (not where we got his name from) but it's unusual, but still pronounceable. That's what we're looking for, any ideas?

Are you definitely expecting a boy, OP, or do you want girl names too?

I'm not keen on Maverick as it's an adjective and puts an expectation on the child.

Just a few ideas:

Rex
Søren
Luther
Lars
Leif

and yes, oh lord, yes to Heath.

I did giggle at "Beacons", sorry Blush

Soren is a gorgeous name, Brekken and Soren would go well together for that Scandi vibe?

Not keen on Maverick.

Nodney · 01/12/2016 16:10

I think you've chosen a lovely name for your wee boy - and second Heath for your second! They go together lovely!

CockneyViv · 01/12/2016 16:59

Troy
Chad
Jackson
Camden
Milan

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 01/12/2016 17:07

Lachlan?
Soren

I love Brekken, I think it's gorgeous. Not so keen on Maverick.

user1480182169 · 01/12/2016 17:11

I know it's unusual, but it's a lovely name

But its not actually a name, is it? Neither is Maverick.

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 01/12/2016 17:13

user1480182169 - I wouldn't be talking about names if I were you Grin

But apart from that - what about Brekken makes it not a name?

Horseshoe1 · 01/12/2016 17:19

For Scandi vibes I love Thurston, Thorsten / Torsten, Magnus and Stellan.

Or how about Torin? Love Heath too.

BreatheDeep · 01/12/2016 17:19

I like the name Heath but I wouldn't use it if I already had a Brekken as it sounds a bit like bracken which you get on a heath.

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 01/12/2016 17:20

Axel.

But apart from that - what about Brekken makes it not a name?

What is about Scunthorpe that makes it not a name? It isn't a name!

MitzyLeFrouf · 01/12/2016 17:23

But it's the OP's son's name whether you like it or not.

2ndpregnancy2016 · 01/12/2016 17:23

Even if you don't want to consider it as a first name, it's definitely a surname and surnames are used all the time as first names.

I'm happy with his name and would appreciate if people could now leave it. I only said his name so I could get name ideas Smile

One of my friends is called maverick, always shortened to "mav". Brekken is a really unusual name, I like it Smile

TinaBacon · 01/12/2016 17:32

Give us a clue, OP, are we prioritising Scandi-ness, or places, or what?

Alisvolatpropiis · 01/12/2016 17:34

Torin?

CloserToFine · 01/12/2016 17:35

I like Hemnes. It's simple but strong. And it's actually mostly wood rather than particle board.

plimsolls · 01/12/2016 17:46

People taking the piss out of OP's son's name....why? Are you feeling big and clever and funny?

So nasty.

You remind me of sniggering whispering playground types.

I feel like Baby Names gets like AIBU at times. It's uncalled for at the best of times but OP didn't even ask for opinions on Brekken here.

OP your little boy is so cute. I don't have any better suggestions that those already made. I like Thurston and Stellan for boys. Although I don't know if the -on/-an/-en end sounds are too similar? Maybe a one syllable name would fit best.

FizzBombBathTime · 01/12/2016 17:56

plimsolls because evidently some people get a kick out of being nasty about a baby... Sad isn't it.

User Grin That really made me laugh!!

Gorgeous baby OP. Good luck finding a name you love :)

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 01/12/2016 18:05

I like the sound of Brekken. And it's several billion times better than Teddie-Blue.

GazingAtStars · 01/12/2016 18:13

Maverick is horrible as a first name but I do like some of these others suggested like Gulliver and Heath

Dogolphin · 01/12/2016 18:18

Brekken and Bryher
Brekken and Delphi
Brekken and Sorrel

Brekken and Lachlan
Brekken and Ulric
Brekken and Alaric
