Brekken and?

We have a son named Brekken, so we like unusual names. Brekken is a lovely village in Norway (not where we got his name from) but it's unusual, but still pronounceable. That's what we're looking for, any ideas?

OP posts:

I see lots of people like Heath. Actually it does sound OK together, but that is because Brecken Heath is a place in the UK and the first person to suggest it was TTP. Don't fall for it OP.

As you are in the US I think that you can get away with European towns as names in a way which we can't in the UK, hence the incredulity.
Boys
Brekken and Thorin
Brekken and Halden
Brekken and Bryne
Girls
Brekken and Milan
Brekken and Sauda
Brekken and Solna

Stop clucking, you lot. Some of these suggestions are hilarious. And OP plainly has a keen sense of humour.

Did you miss the post where the OP explicitly asked people to stop taking the piss? Did they stop taking the piss? Did they fuck.

Mummamayhem · 02/12/2016 13:01

Fern for a girl maybe. Brekken is lovely.

EssentialHummus · 02/12/2016 13:26

Klingly said what I was thinking.

I imagine this will sound like yet more clucking to you racer, but I think we can all sometimes forget that behind the words on a page is a real person. If you wouldn't say it to someone's face, don't say it here - it's no less hurtful just because we're anonymous. And that's leaving aside the fact that OP's son is already here and named - so it's all for sport.

MN is a great way to get honest opinions from people, but I think we can all tell the difference between honest and cruel.

Hmm

I was the first person to suggest it and no I was not taking the piss. I've never heard of Brecken Heath (!) and neither has Google by the looks of things so please take your incorrect assumptions and shove them....

SloanePeterson · 02/12/2016 14:23

I suggested Heath too. And no, wasn't taking the piss. What a nasty thread.

Spoken like a true bully. You think it's funny so it must be?

Generally victims of nasty behaviour try and suck it up and laugh. They generally don't find it funny. The OP expressly asked to stop taking the piss. What's she going to do? Pull the thread? Have a go and feed the nastiness?

Justwhy · 02/12/2016 18:53

Milan is fab. I know a wonderful Milan.

Honaluuhuu · 02/12/2016 19:01

Love the name Brekken, very smart. Soren and Nairn seem like beautiful options, can't think of any myself but would consider Soren myself

Eolian · 02/12/2016 19:07

I don't go on the baby names threads that much and I normally dislike 'unique' names, but love Brekken! It sounds very Nordic and cool, like some of the other names on this thread. It almost makes me wish I'd picked a name like that for ds, especially as he looks a bit like he could be from that part of the world.

throwingpebbles · 02/12/2016 19:12

Brekken is lovely (and I am quite traditional in what I pick)

I know a little boy called Maverick. The name really suits him.

Or how about Hunter? Another name I think is both kind of "unusual" but easy to pronounce etc

Other names I have heard and like that might fit this: Asher, Rudy,

Strokethefurrywall · 02/12/2016 19:16

What's so weird about Brekken? I know of one, and also the actor Breckin Mayer from Franklin & Bash/Road Trip.

Not sure why so many posters have so little imagination and such a mean streak...

I really like Heath, but also Soren is lovely.

JurassicFart · 02/12/2016 19:16

I posted on baby names years ago about my first born's name - I was looking for a middle name. It was mocked mercilessly. I was taken aback and upset and didn't post on here for ages afterwards. It is far from an unusual name and is quite traditional, along the lines of Annie, but posters were horrible.

I think people from the UK can be pretty narrow minded about names, I mean, look at this comment: "why a Norwegian name if your not from Norway". The UK itself is a melting pot of cultures and has all kinds of names that originate from all over Europe. A comment like that just shows your total ignorance.

Brekken is a cool name, I really like it. I don't have any suggestions for other names just wanted to add my two pence.

Strokethefurrywall · 02/12/2016 19:17

Oh, and also we had Maverick on our list for DS2, I really pushed for it but in the end we chose Sullivan.

I really liked Maverick/Mav but I just knew that DS1 would end up being labelled Goose for his entire life.

throwingpebbles · 02/12/2016 19:17

Oh also know a little boy named Holden.

everyone thought it sounded strange when his name was announced, but he totally owns the name and it's hugely grown on me. Could go nicely with Brekken?

Elllicam · 02/12/2016 19:19

I like Tor or Sorin. How about Tallin for a girl?

jenniuol · 02/12/2016 19:19

Your baby is gorgeous op!

SophieofShepherdsBush · 02/12/2016 19:37

Torben

I used to know a Brecon but he was Irish so probably spelt differently. Brecin maybe. Anyway it sounds like a nice name to me.

jurassic Yep totally agree. What do people get out of belittling people, Brekken, for an unusual name, is up there with the best.

Feel sorry for the OP.
