Hi everyone,

I'm new here!

We have decided on Katy/Katie for our baby girl.

Which spelling? I think I prefer Katie, DH prefers Katy... Blush

Thanks everyone!!

Katie is my sister, Katy just looks wrong to me because I'm so used to the ie ending.

lottieandmia · 09/10/2016 14:13

If I was going to have a Katie I would put Katherine on the birth certificate personally.

FantaZero6 · 09/10/2016 14:20

Thanks everyone.

Personally, I really dislike Katherine (sorry!) and I think Kate/Katy/Katie is a known name in its own right (even if it isn't on MN)

I would say Kate also

Can you change middle name so it's not one syllable also?

I.e. If you like Katy Rose, could you use Kate Rosa

Itsnottheendoftheworld · 09/10/2016 14:30

Katy.

Dragontrainer · 09/10/2016 14:36

Inaclearing Snap - I've got a Katie Alice too!

RainbowDashian · 09/10/2016 14:37

I think Katy looks better.

MrsNuckyThompson · 09/10/2016 14:40

I would name Catherine and shorten to Katie.

OhtoblazeswithElvira · 09/10/2016 14:41

I know a Katy (her actual name). She prefers to be called Kate.

There are so many Kates / Katies / whatever in my generation (30s-40s)! It surprises me that people still want to use the name...

Katie. Mine is 10 and not once have we been asked if it is the shortened form of another name.

FantaZero6 · 09/10/2016 14:52

We are using Joy as a middle name, so she'll be Katie Joy. We are looking for other middle names that we like, but tbh we love Joy and prefer Katie!

Can you add two middle names?

I.e. Kate Elizabeth Joy

WeArePregnant11 · 09/10/2016 15:45

Katie Joy, not Katy Joy. At least imo.

However, Katie Elizabeth Joy is a lovely idea. I also like Katie Victoria Joy, Katie Harriet Joy and Katie Matilda Joy. I just think the name seems complete with the added middle name.

Moonpuddle · 09/10/2016 15:52

Katie but either are lovely.

raviolidreaming · 09/10/2016 16:40

For what it's worth, I agree with you.

Dragontrainer i bet mine is older than yours! ....24!

disneyprincesswannabe · 09/10/2016 17:53

DrAdmin · 09/10/2016 17:58

Katie always seems like a NN for Katherine to me but that's just me.

AliciaMayEmory · 09/10/2016 18:39

I have a Catherine, shortened to Katie. Katy just doesn't look right written down to me. I love the name Katie, but thought that by giving her the full Catherine she could choose any of the shortenings that she prefers when she is older.

MotherDuckSaid · 09/10/2016 19:02

katie :)

CancellyMcChequeface · 09/10/2016 22:20

I prefer Katy. I loved 'What Katy Did,' too, and Katy seems that bit more of a complete name.

buttercup54321 · 09/10/2016 22:25

I love Katie.
