Hi everyone,

I'm new here!

We have decided on Katy/Katie for our baby girl.

Which spelling? I think I prefer Katie, DH prefers Katy... Blush

Thanks everyone!!

I meant all personalised things are Katie, obvs...

pilotswife · 09/10/2016 08:17

Katie is pretty - don't like y ending at all

BillStickersIsInnocent · 09/10/2016 08:25

I have a Katy - she chops and changes the spelling all the time though, has done since she could write her name!

We named her after the apple.

AidingAndAbetting · 09/10/2016 08:28

I prefer Katy. I think the y looks more grown up then the ie somehow.

Katymac · 09/10/2016 08:30

I'm biased

Oysterbabe · 09/10/2016 08:43

I prefer Katie. I also want to say the Katy spelling as catty.

Raines100 · 09/10/2016 09:14

Katy as in 'What Katy did' for me, too.

katemess12 · 09/10/2016 09:25

Katy.

Katie looks like it's a nickname, to me. I'd assume Katy was a full name.

moomoo222 · 09/10/2016 09:31

I love 'Katy' and it would have been the name we chose if either or our boys had been girls! I agree with pp's - Katie I would presume was a shortening of Kathleen/Katherine but Katy is a standalone name. If it were ever considered 'childish' (which hadn't occurred to me prior to reading replies above!) then Kat is a lovely shortening.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 09/10/2016 09:55

Katy.

NoCapes · 09/10/2016 10:04

Well I'm a Katie so I say that one, the y ending just looks so wrong to me
However, same as a PP, now that I'm a grown up I do feel like I've got a child's name
I tend to introduce myself as Kate now but obviously family and friends they've known me a while call me Katie so it doesn't really work

WellyMummy · 09/10/2016 10:15

I agree with katemess.

Katie, to me, is a short form of Catherine (or any of the other versions). Katy is more of a standalone name.

My name is Kate, only ever all it when I was in trouble! Otherwise I was Katie, but I still prefer the spelling Katy!

BabsAtTheZoo · 09/10/2016 10:18

Katy

MadameJosephine · 09/10/2016 10:21

Katie, don't know why but the y ending just looks wrong to me.

NapoleonsNose · 09/10/2016 10:25

Katie - I may be a little bias though! I'm actually Catherine but was never a Cathy or Cath. As I've got older, I've become Kate. Katy does look it should be pronounced 'catty'.

Beetlecrusher · 09/10/2016 10:39

Katy. Looks more grown-up to me.

harrietm87 · 09/10/2016 10:45

My sis is Katy (short for Catherine) so I prefer that one! Incidentally she's always found it annoying to have two different initials so if you're thinking of going for a longer name I would choose Katherine

Sadfacehappyface · 09/10/2016 10:53

I have a Katie, she's awesome Smile

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 09/10/2016 11:04

Katie

123beanie · 09/10/2016 11:09

I agree that Katie seems more like a nickname. I prefer Katy

raviolidreaming · 09/10/2016 12:35

I loved the 'What Katy Did' books, so I'm going to say Katy

Me too.

herewego1987 · 09/10/2016 12:38

Or to be really different k8E! X

RueDeDay · 09/10/2016 12:40

Another one who prefers Katie by far

WeArePregnant11 · 09/10/2016 13:38

Kate is lovely :)

However, seeing as you're asking about Katy/Katie... I think I'd go with Katie.

KoalaDownUnder · 09/10/2016 13:40

Katy.

Much prefer it. Katie looks like a nickname, and also looks more cutesy. Katy looks streamlined and classic. (To me.)
