Can I have a Charles and a Charlotte?

Hi there. Twins are due reasonably soon. We both love Charles and Charlotte. Although they mean the same and are the female/male equivalent, they just seem like different names, IMO. 100% they would be Charlie and Lottie :) thank you x

No. Because everyone else may chose to call them Charlie and Charlie.

twinsneednames · 14/03/2016 20:13

Charlie for a girl is awful, IMO and will never be encouraging that.

No you cannot.

No!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 14/03/2016 20:14

I know quite a few female Charlie's. You couldn't stop her being called that by her friends.

cheminotte · 14/03/2016 20:14

Sorry but you can't control what nicknames your kids get. If you don't like the obvious nicknames, don't choose the full version!

coffeeinaredmug · 14/03/2016 20:15

Just call them Charlie and Lottie then?

allegretto · 14/03/2016 20:16

No! I don't like matchy names but especially not for twins - they need their own names.

PotteringAlong · 14/03/2016 20:16

No. Charlie and Charlie are not good names for twins.

Is this a joke post?

Wanderingwondering · 14/03/2016 20:19

No

weasle · 14/03/2016 20:20

No!

It's like Phillip and Phillipa
Or Joseph and Josephine.

There are lots of lovely names out there.
Charlotte and Edward? Or James? Etc
Charles and Sophie / Emily / anna / Georgia?

LaceyLee · 14/03/2016 20:20

Noo!! Pick one but not both. Poor twins.

camelfinger · 14/03/2016 20:20

I think not, sorry.

villainousbroodmare · 14/03/2016 20:21

No.

minipie · 14/03/2016 20:21

No sorry Charles and Charlotte are too similar IMO, regardless of the nn. Charlotte is the female version of Charles so it's like calling them Alexander and Alexandra or George and Georgina.

wallywobbles · 14/03/2016 20:21

No. Just no.

GeorgeTheThird · 14/03/2016 20:21

No. How about Paul and Paula?

It's different to Paul and Paula, they don't have different sounds... Charles and Charlotte does... I'm not doing it do make them match, they're just the only names we agree on

Meeep · 14/03/2016 20:35

I like Paul and Paula. You don't get many of either these days.

AskBasil · 14/03/2016 20:36

It makes you look a bit unimaginative tbh

And you can't choose what other people call your DCs. You have to choose a name with shortenings and lengthenings and other variations you like.

And even then you get caught out. I know a child called Poppy whose peers call her Ploppy whenever they want to upset her. Who could have anticipated that?
