Sapphire - chavvy or posh?

Debating the name Sapphire with a friend, she puts it firmly in the 'Chardonnay' camp and I consider it posh, more akin to Cordelia or Jacinta. What do you think?

It's not posh.

WhoNickedMyName · 29/04/2015 11:18

Yeah it's in the Chardonnay camp for me.

CMOTGilbertBlythe · 29/04/2015 11:18

Not posh.

ElizabethG81 · 29/04/2015 11:18

It's most definitely in the Chardonnay camp.

CocktailQueen · 29/04/2015 11:19

See Jacqueline Wilson's books - definitely chavvy!! Or the kind of name that 10-year-old girls think is lovely :)

glittertits · 29/04/2015 11:21

Stripper, certainly not posh!

OwlBeeBack · 29/04/2015 11:24

BabyGiraffeOnIce · 29/04/2015 11:27

I'd expect there to be a McQueen on hollyoaks with the name so definitely put it in the Mercedes, Chardonnay camp personally.

wonkylegs · 29/04/2015 11:28

Not posh especially when spelt wrong as in DS's class

ThatsNotEvenAWord · 29/04/2015 11:28

I taught a Sapphire and a Chardonnay, they were sisters.

Koalafications · 29/04/2015 11:29

I know a posh Sapphire, but her parents aren't from the UK so maybe it is different abroad.

HellKitty · 29/04/2015 11:29

I imagine Sapphire to be the heroine in one of Katie Price's books.

Hakluyt · 29/04/2015 11:33

Not posh.

twirlypoo · 29/04/2015 11:34

Def not posh

KoalaDownUnder · 29/04/2015 11:36

Even I know that's not posh, and I'm a bloody Aussie, mate! Grin

usualsuspect333 · 29/04/2015 11:37

It's not posh and its not chavvy.

It's just a name.

OttiliaVonBCup · 29/04/2015 11:41

To answer the question.
Sapphire's sister is called Chanelle-Mae.

SirChenjin · 29/04/2015 11:43

It's new money posh Wink

Costacoffeeplease · 29/04/2015 11:46

Definitely not posh

sweetpeame · 29/04/2015 11:51

Errrr...not posh!

anxiousannie10 · 29/04/2015 12:17

I don't think it's either. I'm no Chav and don't consider myself 'posh' but Saphire is just the same as using any other jewel name, such as Ruby, Amethyst or Pearl.

storytopper · 29/04/2015 12:26

Bombay Sapphire Gin? Yes, in the same league as Chardonnay.

twirlypoo · 29/04/2015 12:38
