Word Names, non mainstream

I think we have decided on our forthcoming baby's name, but in case I have overlooked something, I am keen to hear any unusual but usable word name names. Not the mainstream ones like Grace, Lily, Ruby, Jasper, Matt and Johnny, but the less pedestrian - e.g. Sailor, Cadence, Calypso, Journey, Phoenix etc.

Boys and Girls please!

Tigerlily is lush. Too Paula Yates though.

I like Soleil. But I prefer British words that no one will struggle to say. (I love all words, I just mean I don't want my child to have to continually correct people.) Thanks for your continued efforts!!! :)

How about days of the week? I like Tuesday in particular (the Stones' Ruby Tuesday). I believe Nicole Kidman's daughter is called Sunday.

RedToothBrush · 02/03/2015 23:12

Hmmm Endeavour, Marvel, Adventure?

Fairly sure you'd like Maverick then too.

I believe there was a few boys called Awesome last year too. Enough to make the national stats list anyway. But my suspicion is that will be just that little too much for your taste... I could be wrong

I do know of a kid called Axiom, Ax for short. His sister is Meta.

Thank you for all the input. Some fab suggestions here. I still like the girl's name I had in mind before starting this thread, it has been mentioned a few times too. Boy's are slightly up in the air, but I think I have good names to work with. Thank you all.

JuniorMint, I do like Sundae, like the ice cream dessert, actually! If baby is born on a Sunday, I might use it as a middle name!

Temperance (like the character from the Kathy Reichs books), gets called Tempe

There's a Coriander in The Archers, someone's daughter...it does make me smile

Interrobang · 06/03/2015 12:48

I love the look of Temperance, and the sound, but I don't really like what it stands for. But thanks - it's along the right lines!
