Me and DH came up with this name in the pub last night for our hypothetical 3rd and last. We both really like Doris and it fits in with our other DD's names, but then realised it sounds a bit like Doris Day! Mae would just be a middle name not a hypenated name so would it really matter? Or it is does can you suggest one syllable middle names that go with Doris? We already have a Bea.

I actually like Dorit, Tessa, Ivy, Violet, Edith but all vetoed by DH (though there is a glimpse of hope on Violet but one of our other DD's is also a flower name)

Basically think old lady names especially with an s sound in.
:)

(Hypothetical boy name is Alfred John)

Doris reminds me of that Arnie film where Jamie Lee Curtis discovers her husband is a spy and ends up going undercover with him.

He gets told that his callsign is Boris.

"What's mine," she asks, "Natasha?"

"Doris."

I know that granny names are uber trendy right now and that finding one that isn't massively used is the Holy Grail for some, but seriously, sometimes there's a reason they're not massively used. How would YOU like to be called Doris?

Doris Mae is the actual name of a very dear aunt of mine Smile. So much so, we named DD2 with Mae as her middle name.

love all your names, but prefer Dora to Doris.
May / Mae is popular but I don't think people will refer to Doris Day...if it worries you how about Doris Joy.. Doris Kate ?
