Scarily DS2s name (or variant of) is popular pretty much everywhere but here DS1's is almost as common, and DDs doesn't appear anywhere! Any idea how I could find a top ten of names used in Greece or Cyprus (just curious)?

I used to know a French/American family with a Anastasia (pronounced the 'posher' way not the Disney way) and a Kevin (French pron. - Khe-van). Couldn't see the link!

Apparently a name that is really popular with African Americans at the moment is Nevaeh. The article I read said they couldn't understand the history behind it until someone pointed out it is Heaven backwards!

in Switzerland, for boys the most poular name last year was David, but can't say I've met one, but tons of Lucca, Lucas, Fabien, Benjamin (j pronounced 'ya'), Samuel (samooel), also old fashined English names popular, like Vincent, Robin, Colin

For girls, Leoni (Lay-0h-nee) top name, also Lea(h), Lara, Laura (low-ra), anything beginning with L apparently.

Balthazar (shortened to Balz) also surprisingly popular, as are Raphael, Gabriel etc

We've got Jamieson, Blathnaid, Coimha (prounounced Queaver), Jakeb, Rolan, Calub, and Kimster, all in DS's pre-school class.

DS is called Jake, and this was unusual in UK, whereas here in Oz the whole blummin' male population is called Jake.

In Aus they seem to love making up their own names. I know a girl called Tenielle...

There are also lots of children called Jayden, Lachlan, Jackson, Bailey, Kai.

Names popular in the UK are also popular here - Eva, Ava, Chloe, Charlotte etc etc.

In Canada, the surname-as-first-name is popular, e.g. Cameron, Ryan, McKenzie, Logan. Ethan is also up there.

agree with skerriesmum on the canadian names, along with connor, madison and findlay! Findlay, but I have heard it a few times now. THen there is the trend to make up names. Jayden is big. and my ds has a payden (boy) in his class.

we're in northern France and there are at least two little boys called Enzo in the local paper's newborn baby column every week. i see from pizx3 that it is the sixth most popular boys name.

Here in Denmark, names have to be on the official church list, so nothing too outlandish... it takes a while to get a 'new' name on and I think you have to fight for it. Having said that, when we were naming ds2, Buddy was on the list. Woof woof.

Nature names are popular: Ask (Ash tree), Lærke (lark), Liv (life). Also old nordic: Asbjorn for a boy etc.

My designer sister in Melbourne has just called her baby Chilli. She has some friends with a gorgeous son called Lucky.
