Which names do you love that get a bad reception on Mumsnet? And did/would you use them?

Personally I love Kyle. The three I know are lovely and I think it has a nie sound. I probably wouldn't use it myself, but only because there are other names I love more.

Rupert (too posh)
Bianca (RICKAAAAY)

alita7 · 03/04/2014 17:42

Eden. although lots of mumsnetters seem to like it, it's not something anyone I know would be keen on, I'd get many funny looks if I used it. I wouldn't because a. as a young mum I feel I should use a proper name as we get a lot of bad press about our name choices and b. I don't have the balls and c. its a marmite name and I might hate it in 5 years time.

CareBearWithFangs · 03/04/2014 18:10

August - nickname Gus. I'd never be able to use it because everyone goes Confused at the suggestion.

RabbitPies · 03/04/2014 18:53

I forgot to add Ambrose. I'm not terribly sure what Mumsnetters think of it,but everyone I've mentioned it to hates it.Sad. I'm not pregnant, but I would consider using it in future.

I also like Bianca

It doesn't crop up, except when I mention it, but nobody has ever commented favourably on Anita

NewtRipley · 03/04/2014 19:21

Nothing wrong with August/ Gus

isisisis · 03/04/2014 19:28

I really like Ambrose. If DD had been a boy I wanted to call her Atticus. Major veto from DH.

Bowlersarm · 03/04/2014 19:32

Oh, I was going to say Rupert. Too slow, Kantha mentioned it first. Love it, wasn't brave enough to use it.

Calypso. Not sure if people don't like it, but as I don't know any-probably,

alita7 · 03/04/2014 19:34

I like atticus and Anita!

Slippydippysoap · 03/04/2014 19:35

I love Esme and Agnes but DH says all he can smell is mothballs and Lily of the valley talc when I say them Hmm

If I have a boy he will be an Augustus though.

CareBearWithFangs · 03/04/2014 19:48

It's a brilliant name isn't it? But everyone looks at me like I've lost all my senses.

I love the idea of a name having a smell, that's the most inventive reason I've heard for rejecting a name.

WireCat · 03/04/2014 19:49

Amos.

Doshusallie · 03/04/2014 19:52

My dad is called Rupert. I really like it.

I like Joan. No one likes that.

Doshusallie · 03/04/2014 19:54

I also really like basil.

ceeveebee · 03/04/2014 19:55

Well, until another thread today I never realised everyone else hated it but I love my DSs name Roddy

Pollycracker · 03/04/2014 19:58

Pandora

MamaPain · 03/04/2014 20:01

I love Bianca and Eden.

I have what has been described on mn as 'really chavvy' name tastes.

Other favourites include Mason, Harley, Dallas and Cherish.

I will not confess my DCs full names on mn.

I was desperate to call my daughter Enid, DH looked at me like I'd grown 2 heads! I settled for naming her dolly it instead. It's still my favourite name though!
