What names do you love that everyone else hates?

Which names do you love that get a bad reception on Mumsnet? And did/would you use them?

Personally I love Kyle. The three I know are lovely and I think it has a nie sound. I probably wouldn't use it myself,but only because there are other names I love more.

I'm desperate for a Maude (and a Claude!) no twins for me though and I think no girls either unless this one surprises us all.

I had similar comment on DS name (biblical) friend of my parents told them " you cannot let them call him that!"

Luckily mum didn't tell me at the time...

Maude is lovely. I used to dislike it,but it has really grown on me. Youcould do anything with that name. And it works well at any age.

I also quite like Blanche.

I've had some really bad reactions to Ludo - if it's not the board game it's the monster from Labyrinth clearly it's the sexy french chef, people

Olive. Not so much on here but everyone keeps saying "on the buses" - well, thats a geberation older than me so means nowt.

I live Audrey, I'd get laughed out of the maternity ward if I used it!

I mean the name.

Poppy - to cutesy, too girly, too pink & fluffy, would never be taken seriously in business etc. etc. etc. I have one . She has two very sensible & serious middle names though, should she grow up to hate being a female with a feminine name.

Jack - too boring, a zillion in every class, lacks imagination, could never be a High Court Judge etc. etc. etc. I have one .

DS2 is Thomas, known as Tom, which is generally accepted on MN. Although I have also heard it described as boring & unimaginative.

I also like Lily, Evie, Abbie, Chloe and similar names. Names ending in an ee sound are not generally very popular on here I find.

I love Lily-May.

The Hyacinth Bucket in me absolutely loves Araminta. I think it's so classy and elegant. I knew an Araminta when I was a teenager, nicknamed Minti. She was beautiful and cool and blonde and everyone adored her.

I have 4 DDs. I suggested Araminta 4 times. None of my DDs are Araminta.

I quite like Aubrey too - for a boy.

Ottilie, Marina, Betsy and Dolly

I do think of the game,but that's not a bad thing. It's still a lovely name.

I love Tegan for a girl, which has been slated on here.

I also like pretty much all the surname names which generally aren't well liked on here.

How about Orion? I love it but don't think I'd be brave enough to use it.

Ludo is definitely fantastic,and works well at any age.
