I have suddenly decided that I love this name above all others and frankly don't care what DP thinks on the matter.

The only weensy hitch is I'm not sure about the assonance that exists when it's used with my surname: Enid Stephens.

Thoughts?

You can tell me your thoughts on Enid too, if you like. Though I shan't listen to you unless you are wholly positive about it, obviously. Wink

No, not at all really! I doubt that Enid would ever get as popular as any of those. Mind you, I bet they said that about Ava six years ago.

Doreen?

redrubyindigo · 18/03/2014 22:36

Ermmm no

Artandco · 18/03/2014 22:36

Or Rita!

WhispersOfWickedness · 18/03/2014 22:37

Oh, I love Agnes and Enid together!

I am a massive fan of Maude. And Celeste. DD's middle name is Winifred.

Enid according to my 6 year old will be the name of her baby. She has plans to have girls & call them after the characters in the Worst Witch series. Enid is her favourite.

DancingLady · 18/03/2014 23:01

Rowan, Hildy, Ramona, Hadley, all nicer than Enid imo. My sister's Agnes (when anglicised) and hates it.

Viviennemary · 18/03/2014 23:04

I'm not very keen on it I'm afraid. It's just not a very attractive name IMHO.

williaminajetfighter · 18/03/2014 23:13

OP you've got good taste. Agnes is lovely and Enod is gorge but sadly I don't think it works with Stephens. I also don't link howitzer might be shortened to 'Eeny' IYSWIM.

I just had DD2 and sad I didn't go with certain fave names-do you like any? They were: Rumer, Medea,Carmen, Marlo.

Fwiw I think Ramona Stephens is really lovely and flows better and Margot Stephens is gorgeous, ditto Marlo Stephens.

DancingLady · 18/03/2014 23:24

I love the name Marlo. And I agree that Enid Stephens sounds odd; a bit 'ee' 'ee', iyswim. Rowan Stephens, Marlo Stephens, etc etc sound really strong and cool.

AlternativeMoniker53 · 18/03/2014 23:34

Merle Stephens!

Mireio · 18/03/2014 23:56

I think Enid is great.

EugenesAxe · 19/03/2014 00:04

I love the name Enid but for some reason if I say aloud it seems to frequently come out as Enid Sneevens. It's because the 'd' and 'st' are similarly formed sounds; my tongue really does seem to twist a bit with them.

Agnes Stephens is great. Or of course you could further tap into the Worst Witch name compendium and go for Mildred Stephens or Maud Stephens.

squoosh · 19/03/2014 00:16

Enid is hideous, Just typing the name has caused blisters to appear on the tips of my fingers.

Ramona is wonderful. I advise you in the strongest possible terms to reignite your love for Ramona.

Capitola · 19/03/2014 00:24

Enid is fabulous. I have a colleague with it as her middle name & she's embarrassed about it, but I think it's a great name.

Ramona, however, is beyond ghastly.

hunreeeal · 19/03/2014 00:31

I prefer Ramona to Enid.

Enid Stephens - too many e and n sounds

Ramona Stephens - sounds great, go for this!

hunreeeal · 19/03/2014 00:32

Or Rowena?

HippoCritic · 19/03/2014 04:06

Enid sounds VERY dated to me, don't like it, sorry.

Esther?

BitOutOfPractice · 19/03/2014 04:14

Enid is the name of a rather marvellous song by the Barenaked Ladies and for that reason alone it gets a big thumbs up from me

PunkAssMoFo · 19/03/2014 06:51

Dairy lea on toast Stephens has a nice ring to it. No hyphen obvs.

baskingseals · 19/03/2014 07:04

Gloria?

Wish I'd thought of it for dd.

noodlebum · 19/03/2014 09:23

I don't see the problem with it with your surname, is there an obvious one? I like Enid, bit different Smile

Only1scoop · 19/03/2014 09:26

"Calling Gloria"....
Always have to when I hear that name....love it.

GoWestcountry · 19/03/2014 09:28

I love Ramona (biased) but also think Enid is lovely and goes better with Agnes. I don't see any problem with it going with your surname either.
