Talia
Jasmine
Cody
Kassidy
Alexa (Lexi for short)
Sienna

Personally I'm not a huge fan of any on your list. Alexa is quite nice, what about Alexis?

EmpireBiscuit · 04/11/2013 09:55

Quite like everly as well.

biffnbuster · 04/11/2013 09:59

Harlow = an overspill from London town.
Sienna = a shade of brown
Everly = can't spell Beverly
Honey = a little girl on t v who sneezes double streamer snot
Ruby = my niece :-)
Taylor = my friends surname

likelytoasksillyquestions · 04/11/2013 10:01

I like them all, apart from Harlow (a town, sorry), Cody (boy's name imo), Honey and Taylor.

But people who are so inclined will think them chavvy, and suggest Ophelia or something instead.

I don't think Ruby, Halena or Alexa could be described as chavvy (although Lexi probably yes).

I like Coco best. Also Alexa, Tia and Jasmine.

LEMisafucker · 04/11/2013 10:02

I don't consider your sons name to be chavvy, (not fond of making assumptions due to names really) but i would assume you are quite a young mum with that selection. A few stand out - some good, some not so much - i am very traditional with names, i have a lucy and a rebecca so you can see my view :)

Jasmine or Ruby, both nice names, the rest are a bit "non-namey" if that makes sense and a bit american, which is fine, if you are american.

For me, if i were wanting an unusual name i think i'd go for

Rowan
Robyn

I think if i were to have another baby I would name her Grace

Talia - definately common but maybe i associate because my cousin's dd is called this and she is RAF!

The same for Sienna (i can't help but think of senna tablets)

Honey - people will call her "hun" and assume you are a netmum!

stinkingbishop · 04/11/2013 10:03

Alexa/Lexi is nice.

Er...don't really like the others.

Loved Mackenzie/Mack on Newsroom. That kinda fits with the list? Jaime? Skye?

likelytoasksillyquestions · 04/11/2013 10:03

I should add that my son's name (Old Testament, not Jadon) is probably deemed chavvy by some, although it also tends to get complimented on here when it occasionally surfaces.

comewinewithmoi · 04/11/2013 10:04

Harlow is a dog rough place near London.

LEMisafucker · 04/11/2013 10:04

um, that sounds like being a young mum is a bad thing - sorry, didn't mean it like that at all!

comewinewithmoi · 04/11/2013 10:05

All chivvy apart from Alexa, sienna, jasmine and ruby

Wishfulmakeupping · 04/11/2013 10:05

I like Alexa from your list but not keen on lexi

To be honest I'm not keen on any of them and i actually agree with you, they are a bit chavtastic (i say that as someone who like yourself used a name that's considered "chav" for my first and slightly regrets it now) so please don't take offence!

If i HAD to choose one it would be Harlow as i do think it has a ring to it :)

Pick whatever you love though and don't let a bunch if randomers put you off.

Harlow - ok
Tia - sounds like Tia Maria so is a bit chavvy
Tianna - bit chavvy
Talia - little bit chavvy
Jasmine - fine
Cody - sounds like a chavvy boy
Kassidy - the K makes it sound chavvy but otherwise fine
Alexa (Lexi for short) - fine
Sienna - fine
Everly - bit odd to me but fine
Halena - the a is very weird
Coco - no sounds like a chavvy dog
Honey - hmm seems more like a nickname
Ruby - fine
Taylor - bit chavvy

Comfysoft · 04/11/2013 10:11

Harlow is too close to Harlot for me.

Tia, Alexa, Jasmine, Sienna and Ruby - I like. Ruby and Tia I think are lovely names.

The rest just don't appeal too much for various reasons.

peanutMD · 04/11/2013 10:12

Oh and congratulations on your surprise DD!

LEMisafucker · 04/11/2013 10:15

Oh and Cassidy - people will be asking where sundance is!

What about Cassie? I like the name but i know a woman called cassie who is a kiniving home breaking cunt so maybe not.

peanutMD · 04/11/2013 10:17

I love Cassie but DP hated it :(

Greensleeves · 04/11/2013 10:18

Alexa's ok (but Lexi awful)

Ruby and Jasmine ok but vvvvvv popular

the others I don't like

SeeYouNT · 04/11/2013 10:22

thanks all., lol i am not a young mum (i wish) will be 34 when dd is here

i was young when i had caeden though and i think had i been a bit older i wouldn't have chosen it. but he is a lovely boy and it does really suit him. and i actually do like it. but now i do worry about him being judged for it ie by teachers, his friends parents, if he applies to uni, future employers etc

but thanks for the feedback and i am not offended at all honestly :o

the great thing about here is that people are honest where as people in RL generally won't be

and BTW "Halena" would be pronounced "Haleena" not "Helena" just to clear up any confusion

Love Everly... It's beautiful!

LEMisafucker · 04/11/2013 10:28

See!!! that just goes to show that you should never assume - feck, i wish i was a young mum too! I was with DD1, i was 19, with DD2 35 Hmm Grin

Also, there is a lot of differing opinions so i wonder how useful an exercise this was? Or was it? Maybe you should go with what YOU like and stuff what everyone else thinks. Flowers

jobwoes · 04/11/2013 10:28

In all honesty I think all of the names on your list could be considered a bit chavvy, some more so than others (Talia, Jasmine and Ruby are the better ones). Whatever you do please don't name your child Coco - to me that is a porn star/stripper name.

lottiegarbanzo · 04/11/2013 10:33

Well, you did ask, so, being more blunt than I'd usually be and doing nothing to restrain my inner snob; yes, most of those names cause me to visualise you as quite young and poor and with a tight, scraped-back pony tail of the facelift variety and big gold earrings, which is altogether what I imagine you might mean by chavvy. (I don't like the word chav, as it seems to damn people for being poor, which is horrible but, names do carry associations and if that's not one you want, that's fine).

I do like your existing DC names though!

So, Lexi is the current example I'd choose of exactly what you're trying to avoid.

Some of those aren't 'proper names', some are surnames and you seem to have mis-spelt Cassidy.

I quite like your T names - have you considered Thea (could be Theadora)? (To me Talia is a brand of cooking equipment but probably not to many people. Tia is aunt in Spanish, as in Tia Maria).

Ruby and Jasmine are lovely names.
