anyway - here are the names

Harlow
Tia
Tianna
Talia
Jasmine
Cody
Kassidy
Alexa (Lexi for short)
Sienna

Sorry but I don't like any apart from Jamine and Ruby. And they are both a bit too popular now IMO.

But then I only really like traditional/biblical names - although funnily enough they are the only children in their whole school year(s) with their names, despite them being very, very well known ones. You would probably think I've given my DC really boring names actually Smile

JacqueslePeacock · 04/11/2013 13:54

Willow would be nice. I much prefer that to most of the ones on your list.

AmIGoingMad · 04/11/2013 14:06

I like Sienna and Talia but would be tempted to spell it Thalia.

Ecuador · 04/11/2013 18:15

Now Bryony is nice Smile.

lottiegarbanzo · 04/11/2013 21:44

Oh, my cooking equipment is Tala, not Talia (agree Thalia is nicer but really like Thea).

halecromp · 04/11/2013 22:15

I love Cassidy with a 'C' and think it goes well with your older children's names'. Also quite like Jasmine and Alexa.

BeigeBuffet · 04/11/2013 22:22

My favorite from your list is Everly but I like Evelyn more, it sounds more finished and is one of my list names, as is Willow. I also love Marnie.

Ikeameatballs · 04/11/2013 22:23

I like Cassidy (spelt like this), Talia and Everly.

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 04/11/2013 22:25

Other than Ruby and Alexa I consider all those names to have chavvy overtones.

But I am old and I like traditional names

StayAwayFromDeliriumDive · 04/11/2013 23:39

Jasmine and Ruby are ok - the rest are pretty awful.

sonlypuppyfat · 04/11/2013 23:45

I'm with jobwoes there are loads of really lovely classy names you could chose.

Sunnysummer · 05/11/2013 02:08

I like Alexa and Sienna best, agree with another poster that Alexis and Alexia are also great girl names (love Lexi as a nickname!). Coco is also quite cool Smile Congratulations!

Sunnysummer · 05/11/2013 02:09

And also love Thalia like the classical Greek name, more than Talia - it has a lovely meaning too, as she was the muse of poetry Smile

Mummyoftheyear · 05/11/2013 03:10

Have you ever been to Harlow?

happy2help · 05/11/2013 03:13

Not keen on any, sorry. But congrats on your wonderful news! x

elcranko · 05/11/2013 08:16

I really like Jasmine and Alexa from your list. Not really keen on the others though, sorry.

Googlella · 05/11/2013 08:29

Ruby and Jasmine are lovely IMO.

Phantomteadrinker · 05/11/2013 08:38

What's with all the Harlow bashing? Some of us live there and actually quite like it- bunch of snobs Grin! But please don't name your child after it Wink

noodlebum · 05/11/2013 11:46

I like Jasmine and Sienna from your list Smile

HelloLA · 05/11/2013 12:02

Sometimes the type of surname really colours the first name. I know a Talia + JewishSurname and it doesn't sound chavvy at all.

AFAIK, Talia is of Aramaic/Hebrew/Arabic origin, whereas Thalia is Greek. I also know a Classics scholar with a Thalia, which I think fits better with Anglo surnames. Not sure it sits well with Layla and Caeden though.

Sorry, but I really dislike 'Honey' (Wilkes, Boo Boo) and 'Coco' (Pops, the Clown).

I think it's a fine line between choosing a creative, vivid name and choosing a name which seems incongruous with the cultural associations of your surname. I'm all for mixing it up, but some combinations do sound try-hard, mad, or, yes, chavvy.

How about:

Caeden, Layla and...

Sophie
Zoe
Naomi
Phoebe

SeeYouNT · 05/11/2013 13:02

phantomteaddrinker lol :o

i do really like sienna as well but will people think its because of sienna miller :/

i do like my dcs to have quite unique names, tbh am not keen on "classic" sort of names, they are lovely but not for me

put it this way if baby had been a boy he would have been called Hendrix. yes after Jimi Blush

OP posts:
lottiegarbanzo · 05/11/2013 14:18

Well, Siena the city is spelt Siena, in Italian, to make the distinction. Though, people could just think you're an admirer of Ms Miller who can't spell... up to them.

Hendrix is quite interesting - too unusual to be 'chavvy'. He'd be called Rix (like Rick's) wouldn't he? Though, Hendricks is a brand of gin, so if you said, rather than spelt, Hendrix and Tia, I might think you'd named your children after the contents of your drinks cabinet (see also Remy, Sapphire, Chandon, Glayva, Chardonnay oh and Jim Grin).

How about Marguerite(a)?

SeeYouNT · 05/11/2013 14:26

LOL lottie re drinks cabinet

funny enough DD's middle name is Sapphire - i badly wanted it for her first name but dh wouldnt have it Blush Blush and she is NOT named after the gin honest
