Anybody know when they are going to publish the data on baby names for 2012? I remember they'd published it by this time last year.

192 Lyra's - and at least four of them live within 20 miles of me. That feels like an achievement.

9 Renesmee's.

I slightly worrying 9 Renay's. Is that a misspelling or have I just not heard it before?

I love these lists - 3 boys called "Awesome" last year and another 3 called "Marvellous"!
Also spotted Huckleberry, "T", Goodluck, Breeze and Berk, who all sound like Harry Potter characters.

I do know a lot of Amelie's actually. Am still at a loss where all these Amelia's are hiding out though...

Thurlow, can I ask what your DD's name is and what you call her? 48 is also the common diminutive for the name I am planning for my DD (due next week) and I also prefer another nickname. Hope you don't mind me asking!

Only 50 girls given my name, compared to the year I was born 1976, when it was anything but rare.

According to this BBC link, there were 730,000 births last year, so the 7,000 Amelias only make up 1% of all babies that year I think. When you think of it that way it's no surprise that the country doesn't seem to be overrun with little Amelias!

I haven't looked at the boys list yet - are there more boys called a popular name than girls? While I know or know of quite a lot of Amelia's/Jessica's, I know a LOT of George's and Freddie's!

Me too squoosh , and 13 Ilas because their parents couldn't spell Isla.

DD1 escaped the list yet again! Three variations on her name, but only once in 10 years has she made the list. They're all fewer than 50 per name too.

DD2 and DS's names have dropped as well :o

Whyno, just realised I should have said 46, not 48. So our conversation isn't going to make much sense! Sorry. It's really not going well here this morning Grin

Apparently there were three people last year named Summer- Confused

Why would you put a hyphen without actually hyphenating the name?

All I can think of, on the DM link, is that photo of Riley Keough and Kristin Stewart and how they all need a damn good wash...

I check this every year to make sure the dc's names aren't getting popular. DS has sneaked up a little, but is still outside the top 50. DD's is way down the list .

My RL name is as common as muck.

Any way ...

I wonder if any of the Daves are named after the TV channel Grin

Theophile is OK. They are probably from Francophone families and will mostly go by Theo in any case.
