Anybody know when they are going to publish the data on baby names for 2012? I remember they'd published it by this time last year.

Once again, nobody has used my name. And I've still never met one in rl.

AmandaPandtheTantrumofDoom · 13/08/2013 21:11

There might be two out there Show

ShowOfHands · 13/08/2013 21:53

Nah, it's a horrid name. Nobody would use it. I suggested it on here once. People recoiled in horror.

5madthings · 13/08/2013 22:03

I have just been looking for Neva but I couldn't see it, I did find neeva and neevah really low down but not Neva. Am I being blind or is it not there? It means snow and something else wintery :)

KittenofDoom · 13/08/2013 23:19

Six of 'em :)

5madthings · 13/08/2013 23:25

With that spelling? I tralked through the decking list and didn't see it! My cousin will be pleased its her fave name for bump if its a girl :)

KittenofDoom · 13/08/2013 23:34

Use the 'Find' function, top right.

5madthings · 13/08/2013 23:44

Yes it takes you neveah rose and a few similar names but no actual Neva on its own. There seem to be variant spellings tho. Its certainly not a common name.

KittenofDoom · 13/08/2013 23:52

Yes, it is there. It's in the 3681 block, under Nethra and above Nevaeh-Rose Hmm

KittenofDoom · 13/08/2013 23:53

KittenofDoom · 14/08/2013 00:02

I think you are looking at the 2011 names Wink

5madthings · 14/08/2013 00:35

Duh Blush I have the 2011 in one tab and 2012 in another along with 2010 and 1999, 2002 and 2004 and 2008 as I am comparing the years my children were born to now...confusing myself, its late, am full of cold.... Thank you!

GW297 · 14/08/2013 01:34

Annie - I loathe the name Nevaeh too and have you seen Neveah as well?!

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 14/08/2013 05:46

Horry, it is a good list, but you have disagreement about Ava and Evelyn because they are totally different names.

AnnieLobeseder · 14/08/2013 09:34

GW297 - Neveah may be even worse. I mean, Nevaeh is "heaven" spelled backwards, which is just cringeworthy and awful, but Neveah is Heaven spelled backwards incorrectly, which is infinitely more awful!!

HorryIsUpduffed · 14/08/2013 10:03

Or as I think I mentioned earlier, Neveyah which I spotted on CBeebies birthdays earlier this week.

Actually, I'm coming to think I'd rather see it spelt like a name and chosen for its pronunciation than used as "heaven backwards" which is just frankly bizarre.

GW297 · 14/08/2013 12:21

Annie - 100% agree. That is exactly what I thought. I cringe when I come across Nevaeh's in classrooms. Looks as though there will be a proliferation of them in the next few years though. Calling your child heaven spelt backwards is just bleugh!

KittenofDoom · 14/08/2013 12:45

It even sounds a bit like bleugh.

MoosheKoochak · 14/08/2013 13:39

Heaven backwards? Really?! I was looking at the comments about Nevaeh and wondering what in particular was wrong with it, if it was the name of some TV character I hadn't come across, or a Gaelic name (for example) that was being spelled as it sounded to non-Gaelic ears. Surely you could just call your child Heaven, if you wanted to? or Hell, if you particularly wanted the opposite of Heaven

Maybe I'll call my next child Evol Wink

KittenofDoom · 14/08/2013 13:50

I know someone who spells her name Hellen Grin

GW297 · 14/08/2013 18:28

Mooshe - you shouldn't joke about such things! You're giving people ideas. I could see that catching on!

Alisvolatpropiis · 15/08/2013 16:09

Tyrion is a Welsh name so that's legit.

Can't get over the baby Rogers!

OhWhatAPalaver · 15/08/2013 20:29

BAH! My DD's name is now in top ten!!! Didn't ever know anyone with her name before she was born!!

Mirage · 16/08/2013 12:54

Both my DDs names are now in the top 10 and are often mentioned on MN as being very popular '6 in every class' sort of thing .DD1's I have only met 1 other child with the same name ever, either at school or socially, and that child's mum is a friend who asked me if I minded her calling her DD the same as mine. DD2's name is even higher on the list and I have never met another anywhere.
