I like Ottilie, probably with Tilly as a nn, but I'm not a nn type of person, more of a shortening person, so my Ottilie would probably end up being Ottie

talkingnonsense · 21/05/2013 18:32

Elodie- ottillie sounds too like utterly in a northern accent.

ilooklikegrotbagstoday · 21/05/2013 18:34

Whichever you chose, both are beautiful!

MrsMagpieCovetsShinyThings · 21/05/2013 18:36

I love Elodie. I'd prob turn it into Ely for a nn.

ilooklikegrotbagstoday · 21/05/2013 18:36

OOOOOOOOOO chOOse!

farmersdaughter · 21/05/2013 18:40

Ottilie is just divine!

Ottilie Alice is smashing!

adds to list Blush

AThingInYourLife · 21/05/2013 18:41

Elodie

ReluctantBeing · 21/05/2013 18:44

Hahahahahahaha! Really?

Aethelfleda · 21/05/2013 18:52

It depends upon which you would be happy yelling across a crowded playground in years to come. They are both pretty but very much "of the moment' names which in years to come will date them as being 2010 decades babies. This may not matter to you, but either are highly likely to be misspelled as they grow up in all sorts of ways....

TenthMuse · 21/05/2013 19:27

Both are lovely! Would go for Ottilie, as Elodie seems very much on the up at the moment (seems to be the new Amelie here in North London).

Really like Ottilie Alice.

ukfirestorm · 21/05/2013 19:30

@reluctant being, yes really x

Elodie.

Ottilie is very frilly and I don't like the OTT sound. I think a lot of people would muRRRRRRRder it. I can imagine it sounding almost nice said with a soft accent but the vast majority of people would hammer it.

Elodie is safer, and stronger somehow. I also like Eluned (welsh). It seems your taste.

ukfirestorm · 21/05/2013 19:35

Eluned is interesting, not heard that one

Prefer Elodie, but would hate it to be shortened to Ellie.

EarlGreyTeabag · 21/05/2013 19:36

Elodie here too.

Elodie, but they're both nice.

Letticetheslug · 21/05/2013 19:42

Elodie, definitely. Although the moment you see her , you may well change your mind...

ChasingStaplers · 21/05/2013 19:43

Elodie is lovely.

Ottilie is just meh.

Foosyerdoos · 21/05/2013 19:43

Prefer Elodie, I also like Eloise.

AmandinePoulain · 21/05/2013 19:45

I've got an Elodie Smile

I had no idea it was 'up and coming', I picked it because I liked it when I saw it in the French baby names book (I've got a French dh).

(I've also got an Amelie, so you could say that yes, it is the new Amelie Wink Grin)

Foosyerdoos · 21/05/2013 19:53

I wanted to call Dd Amandine Amandine but was vetoed by Dh.

ukfirestorm · 21/05/2013 20:03

amandine also nice

I never knew my MN nn would get me a baby named after me Grin

Still, my nn is far nicer than my actual name at least Wink Grin
