I know someone whose daughter and son are called Paris and Troy. Really! Aside from being utter rubbish, I mean, if we are going with mythology Paris is a boy not a girl, and Troy is a place not a person! Its Paris and Hector surely? Or Troy and Mesopotamia?

So can you top that? Go on, I could do with a laugh.

MrsDV I have to say that I don't think this thread was showing a disdain for certain groups until those of you expecting it to made it so. There was the incident with Scarlet and Lola being considered prostitute names by one poster, but that is not snobbish thing, it is a personal opinion based on literature. Other than that the names being laughed at here are all fine individually, but when combined with siblings or surnames become odd. The list of names on here could come from any walk of life.

I appreciate that some people find this thread distasteful, but I do think some of you came looking for a fight that actually wasn't here.

Incidently, no one mentioned Jayden until one of the poster expecting some sort of class war said she was surprised it wasn't mentioned although Jayden, Hayden, Braydon and Bob would be elligable

I've always thought Jayden was a variant spelling of the Biblical Jadon,so never really understood why it gets such a bad rap from people.

I don't know alis but my ds loves his cardies and he has had tram lines and patterns shaved in before. Do you think because he normally has high tops not uggs (he wouldn't wear them) that makes it better or worse?

I'm very confused about the cardi too.

It wasn't 'funny' or a 'problem', it was just that as there were 7 of them it became a bit laboured and silly and contrived after about the third one. the names got progressively worse and more outlandish just to stick with the theme.

When I was little I knew a family with 4 girls called Faith, Hope, Joy and Helen. All lovely names.

I never thought that Helen would have been a bit about having a non-virtue/emotion name until I was reminded of it by this thread. I wonder if she was curious why her name wasn't in the same theme as her sisters?
