What's your mum called?

Thinking about the cyclical nature of names - those that I used to think of as awful 'granny names' when I was younger - Florence, Edith, Mabel etc - are wildly popular now.

I wonder what the equivalent names will be for our grandchildren and great-grandchildren?

My mum is called Christine (I am in my mid 30s).

Mum is Catherine, born in 1950s, her sister is Helena.

My DDs have their names as middle names.

DesperatelySeekingSedatives · 18/10/2012 12:27

My mum is Patricia. She is 60 and hates it. Mil is also in her 60's and is called Pamela. She hates her name too! I've had to promise them both we wont ever name any of our kids after either of them Grin suits me fine. Both these names are grim imo.

DeadTall · 18/10/2012 12:36

Maureen - I'm mid 40s. She hates it!

stowsettler · 18/10/2012 13:12

My much-missed DM was Jennifer and this will be my daughter's middle name. I've just realised this could become a bit of a tradition, as my middle name is Kathleen, which was my mother's mother's name.

Kaekae · 18/10/2012 13:21

Karen she's 53. Popular name in the 50's don't think it will make a comeback, I Can`t imagine a baby called Karen. MIL is a baby 65 year old Veronica...which I quite like.

Kaekae · 18/10/2012 13:23
  • opps shouldn't say baby in front of 65!
