What's your mum called?

Thinking about the cyclical nature of names - those that I used to think of as awful 'granny names' when I was younger - Florence, Edith, Mabel etc - are wildly popular now.

I wonder what the equivalent names will be for our grandchildren and great-grandchildren?

My mum is called Christine (I am in my mid 30s).

My mother is Daphne in her sixties, MIL is Joy. I like both names but DH wasn't so keen.

DM is Patricia Ann (as is, bizarrely, one of my friend's mum) - mid 60's. I also have 2 friends called Patricia (shortened to Trish) in their mid 30's. Must be more common round my neck of the woods.

DMIL is Phyllis - not sure I can see that coming back - also mid 60's

Titsalinabumsquash · 18/10/2012 04:05

Mum was called Jayne, she'd be 52 now Smile

ScarePhyllis · 18/10/2012 04:11

Anne, born early 50s. It is super not popular at all right now, surprising for such a classic, traditional name.

CheerfulYank · 18/10/2012 04:17

Mine is Jody, born in 1960.

MIL is Suzanne, born 1950 or so.

IsSpringSprangedYet · 18/10/2012 04:23

My mum is Jacqueline and she is late 40s. She hates it and prefers Jackie or Jack. MIL is Ruth and she is late 70s. I'm 29.

mathanxiety · 18/10/2012 05:06

Anastasia. I am late 40s, she is late 70s (born 1930s). It's an old family name in her family and it has been used in the grandchildren's generation too.

Boobz · 18/10/2012 05:27

Kathryn, but uses her middle name Jane. She's early 60s, I'm mid 30s.

My mum is in her mid 50s and is called Molly. She hated it as a child because no one was called it but it has been really popular recently.

My Mil is in her 60s and is Mary.
