What's your mum called?

Thinking about the cyclical nature of names - those that I used to think of as awful 'granny names' when I was younger - Florence, Edith, Mabel etc - are wildly popular now.

I wonder what the equivalent names will be for our grandchildren and great-grandchildren?

My mum is called Christine (I am in my mid 30s).

My mum is Julie. I'm 23. Can't imagine that one making much of a comeback tbh.

DefiniteMaybe · 17/10/2012 23:01

owed i love Doris. If my surname didn't start and end with a s then it would have been high up on my list.

Mil was Doreen. My gm is Doris. Can't see either coming back!

WelshRabbit · 17/10/2012 23:34

Irene, known as Reeny. If I'd had a girl I'd have loved to have used it, but would have gone for Irena. DP wasn't keen, so good job we had boys. MIL is Sandra.

WelshRabbit · 17/10/2012 23:37

Oh, and my GM was called Queenie - can't see that coming back!

Growlithe · 17/10/2012 23:37

DM would have been 81 and her name was June. It's such a pretty name, DD1 has it as a middle name. DM was born in June, but DD1 wasn't. She didn't get to meet her lovely lovely Nan though, so it was perfect that she got her name.

DontCallMeMummyPig · 17/10/2012 23:41
