My mum wanted to call me Briony or Stephany, my Dad chose something else entirely! Briony would have been nice... If I'd been a boy I would have been Craig.

tummytickler · 24/07/2012 14:49

I was sooooo nearly a Ruby, but ended up with one of the most popular names of my generation. I think I would really suit Ruby, and have always been gutted they didn't use it (I don't really like my name)

RillaBlythe · 24/07/2012 14:50

Rachel. Andrew or Patrick for boys. I prefer the names they did give us!

workshy · 24/07/2012 14:51

Honey! My father vetoed it.

GooseyLoosey · 24/07/2012 14:56

Wendy. I am eternally grateful that they were living in the States at the time and my mother thought the Americans pronounced it as "Windy". Thank God for the American accent.

MammaTonic · 24/07/2012 15:12

If I'd been a boy, I would have been Thomas Philip James.

Other girl's name choices were Charlotte, Claire or Helena.

I was Abigail until I popped out, then my parents had a last-minute change of heart!

If I'd been a boy, I'd have been called Brian! You might think I had a narrow escape, except they chose a worse girl's name for me that I can't reveal without outing myself.

MagdalenaAlec · 24/07/2012 15:19

If my mother had not vetoed my father's choices I would have been Hedwige or Marie-Caroline (I am grateful for the former but prefer the latter to my actual name)

TheFallenMadonna · 24/07/2012 15:23

Colin. Phew!

JulietMontague · 24/07/2012 15:33

If I was a boy I was going to be Kevin Grin and their alternate girls names were

shimmy0 · 24/07/2012 16:02

Some very amusing choices there lol! I have no idea what my mum and dad would have called me had I been male as they tended to only talk about names after the births of all us kids. It would I'm sure have been interesting though!

Grant or Paris Blue (boy), Blue or India Grey (girl).
Surprisingly my name is actually worse than all of them.

YoulllaughAboutItOneDay · 24/07/2012 16:10

If I had been a boy I would have been Andrew. Rather more common than my actual name - they were braver for a girl.
