I am going round in circles.

If I list my current shortlist and my other dcs names please can you give me your views on the list, and also any other ideas are really welcome.

Current Shortlist: (changes daily though!)

Cecilia
Cecily
Alice
Elinor (but don't like Ellie)
Arabella (but see other dds names)
Catherine (Kitty?)
Felicity
Imogen
Miranda
Martha

Other dds are

Alexandra - but known by her middle name of Poppy
Isabella
Phoebe

ds's are

Charles (Charlie)
Edward (Ned).

I am probably overthinking this now but she is 2 weeks old and i am getting fed up with being asked by everyone if "I've named that baby yet". I got called a cruel mother yesterday for not naming her!.

I had thought to stick with Cecily, but reactions from people haven't been very good and dh isn't very keen on it although he is willing to go along with it. also the other dds all have a view on the name, as does DH. I can't find one that seems to the one. Would like to avoid top 10 names - when we named Isabella it was in the 40s in the list and now it has shot up and I slightly regret using it now.

(I realise that I have completely outed myself to those people who know me in RL, so hello if you know me!).

I think Imogen and Miranda fit perfectly. Beautiful names.
Cecelia and Cecily are also beautiful and fit the sibset too.
Stick to Cecily if it is the one you love the best - sod everyone else! Everyone hated ds's name too, but they get used to it - even love it eventually.

outtolunchagain · 25/05/2012 11:07

Genevieve or Ellen Lydia or Anna are also nice.

redrubyshoes · 25/05/2012 11:15

Catherine Alice (Kitty)

Beautiful.

plantsitter · 25/05/2012 11:16

I would scrap Elinor (it's nice but she will be called Ellie) and then put the rest of the list to a family vote.

kat1885 · 25/05/2012 11:20

Ella rose was what ds2 would have been if he was a she.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 25/05/2012 11:23

Tallulah
Honey
Iris
Bethsheba

(I realise I am being totally self indulgent!)

Marisaurus · 25/05/2012 11:48

Felicity, Cecily, or Catherine (Kitty) have my vote.
Alice would be my favourite for a middle name!

Pippinella · 25/05/2012 11:51

Do you like the alternative spelling to Cecily - Cicely? It changes it quite nicely I think.

Others which stand out are Carmen, Ottilie (Tilly), Ophelia, Aurelie.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 25/05/2012 11:52

I love linnet!

(remembers favourite pony).

Sigh.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 25/05/2012 11:54

I had Felicity on my list too, but we ended up going with Verity. I also love Miranda.

needtogetalife · 25/05/2012 11:57

Martha love this name, seems Im the only one though!

JudithTaverner · 25/05/2012 12:04

thanks everyone.

I can't have some names because of relatives/friends daughters - so Harriet and Cordelia are out and I love those names. i can't have Beatrice as i call my dd3 (Phoebe) Bee and she has already said that the baby can't be called Bea too. Rose is a middle name of one of the other dds. I love Anna, but my mum is Anne and we have used that name already as a middle name too.

I love Ottilie, but dh thinks it's a silly name (utterly butterly he says). his favourite name is Hermione.

I really like Thea and might add that to the mix!

the dds are split, one has voted for Alice, another has suggested Daisy - Im thinking of this for a middle name too.

I cant work out whether Martha is pretty or a librarian type name. (no offence to librarians)

Martha is a really beautiful name. I like that, Catherine and Cicely.

All of your names are lovely apart from Elinor (because of the Ellie thing).

I agree - put it to a public vote or draw the names out of a hat, so to speak.

What a lovely large family Smile all with great names.
