I need a name for dd4 - she is 2 weeks old! Suggestions welcome

I am going round in circles.

If I list my current shortlist and my other dcs names please can you give me your views on the list, and also any other ideas are really welcome.

Current Shortlist: (changes daily though!)

Cecilia
Cecily
Alice
Elinor (but don't like Ellie)
Arabella (but see other dds names)
Catherine (Kitty?)
Felicity
Imogen
Miranda
Martha

Other dds are

Alexandra - but known by her middle name of Poppy

Charles (Charlie)
Edward (Ned).

I am probably overthinking this now but she is 2 weeks old and i am getting fed up with being asked by everyone if "I've named that baby yet". I got called a cruel mother yesterday for not naming her!.

I had thought to stick with Cecily, but reactions from people haven't been very good and dh isn't very keen on it although he is willing to go along with it. also the other dds all have a view on the name, as does DH. I can't find one that seems to the one. Would like to avoid top 10 names - when we named Isabella it was in the 40s in the list and now it has shot up and I slightly regret using it now.

(I realise that I have completely outed myself to those people who know me in RL, so hello if you know me!).

Picked Martha for one of mine 6 years ago and I still adore it. So that has my vote and I think it fits with the other name.

You've got to have a Thea. Thea's are wonderful and it fits so perfectly with your other names not that I'm at all biased.

I was thinking the other day that Austerity would be a lovely name for a girl...
Or maybe not.

Elena or Helena?

Cecily is lovely, and under used IMO.

How about Dorothea, nn. Thea? Another beautiful, classic but underused name.

I think you should ignore your DH as the names you've said he dislikes are my favourite.

Cecily was my fave before I'd even read as far as saying it was yours.

I love Cecily, fits beautifully with your 2 boys names & its also not yet a common name, probably won't be either, which is always a bonus, especially for DDs :)

• it is my old friends Mums name, she is a really lovely lady, always cheerful & goes out of her way to help anyone, despite having been through an awful lot over the years herself, she still remains one of the most cheerful & bubbly characters I know :) - she goes by the NN Ceci - which again sounds great with your boys NNs

Had loads of problems choosing for my fourth, mumsnet chose in the end! I love your short list, the best are IMVHO, Felicity and Kitty with Alice or Daisy as middle name(s). What is Greek for Catherine? Caterina? That is very pretty and sits well with the others. Love Hermione too but can't think of a cute way of shortening it.

Katerina is how I would spell it. Forgot that one. I also know a Teresa but not pronounced the same way as mother Teresa. Its Ter-ray-sa.

How about Juliet / Juliette? Sort of gets both the European and English aspects in one go.

If not, someone on another thread was considering Thalia, which is also pretty (and Greek).

Also, love Arabella, but can see why you wouldn't want that with Alexandra - Arabel (A-ra-BEL), is a variant, which might fit better?

Ds was going to be Imogen, but i think it is going the same way as as Isabelle/Isabella. (in that it is becoming very popular)

I also loved Martha, but was put off with people (including DH) saying "Marfa" ditto Fea/Thea

From your list i would choose, Kitty or Cecelia (although I am now singing the Suggs song to myself! Cecelia....your breaking my heart....

I like Miranda and Alice. Also love May. Kitty is v nice but getting quite common now but still lovely. I met a little girl called Blyhte recently old english name v pretty and I also like Roberta (bertie)

All your names are beautiful except I'm not a fan of Martha (librarian all the way for me) or Felicity. I think Arabella is too similar to your other ds's names. But you can't go wrong with any! There are 6 kids in my family as well and all of us older kids got to pick the middle name of the youngest. Sister #4 wanted to name her Pancake after her fave food but luckily she was outvoted!!!

Sophia is a pretty name

I love Cecily and Alice. Not hugely keen on any of the others, which is harsh I know but at least keeps my contribution short!

Sophia is a lovely name (biased as my dd is a Sophia). Very bloody common now (was far less so 16 years ago).
