I think Harper is ok, not my favourite but not too out-there. Seven just made me think of George Costanza, which made me laugh.

PlumBumMum · 11/07/2011 11:20

CoffeeIsMyFriend Thats the first thing I said to dd1, Harper where do we know that name from and she said Wizards of Waverly although doubt Victoria will want her to have her fashion sense

DogsBestFriend · 11/07/2011 11:22

Poor little bugger!

Harper Seven? Hmm

uberfertilechick · 11/07/2011 11:23

Quite like Harper...could have been worse...I think "Seven" is cos it was David's number when playing for England maybe??

Caramel when I heard the name on the radio this morning, I thought they'd said Half Past Seven Blush.

Harper is actually not as "out there" as I'd expected. Seven is however Grin.

I thought that after wanting a little girl for so many years they would pick something uber-girly & fluffy. Pink Princess for example Hmm.

I like Harper. I don't know why people think it sounds masculine - Harper Lee* was very much female!

*YY I know her first name was Nelle, but still...

pranma · 11/07/2011 11:33

I thought they chose it because of Mrs B's connection with the magazine Harpers Bazaar!
Or should that be Harper's bizarre?[sorry-actually I quite like Harper but Seven.......]

share · 11/07/2011 11:34

Quite tame for celebs don't you think?! Think this would be a good time to ask MNHQ for a smiley with a big grin on it's face which rolls about from laughing so much.

God I really must get a life even opening this thread now to add my comment.

Raahh · 11/07/2011 11:34

Yes- she used Harper BECAUSE it sounded masculine, and therefore she would be more likely to be taken seriously in male dominated profession. Like George Eliot.

Dh was quite excited by the whole 'Seven' thing (he owns a signed Cantona shirt-he was number 7 at ManU too).

Whatever her name, she will be one of the most wanted and fussed over little girls around, I imagine.

icecreaminmyhair · 11/07/2011 11:40

If you say it quickly enough it sounds like 'half past seven' Hmm

Perhaps Harper Serin would have been better.

mrjellykeepskidsquiet · 11/07/2011 11:43

DD2 would have been Harper had she been a boy.

otchayaniye · 11/07/2011 11:45

They missed a chance here

Harper Titus B(eckham)

MelinaM · 11/07/2011 11:56

One of Lisa Marie Presley's twins is Harper Vivienne Ann. Harper Lee is actually Nelle Harper Lee, love Nelle!!!

I find Harper very masculine, very odd choice after having three boys!!!

Grin @ HARPIE

flooziesusie · 11/07/2011 11:58

I like it... it's pretty and senitmental.

guffaw at otchayaniye

MamaLazarou · 11/07/2011 11:59

I quite like it. Makes a change from the usual 20 or so names you hear all the time.

Rehune · 11/07/2011 12:03

Fantastic - baby name advice from George Costanza. Pure genius. Thanks for the link KenDoddsDadsDog

ruelachesty · 11/07/2011 12:09

well if its good enough for Ben 10

wonder what her superpowers will be??

(I actually love harper, Dave Grohl has a Harper Willow)

Insomnia11 · 11/07/2011 12:13

I don't know who George Constanza is, but I quite like it, more than Romeo, Brooklyn and Cruz. Seven must be related to Becks' no 7 shirt. There are plenty of number-related names out there - Primo, Octavia. I guess it's no worse than calling her Septima.

Harper reminds me of Harper Lee which seems a very good association.

It doesn't really matter though as they will go to schools where kids are called all sorts of weird and wonderful names, where probably having an ordinary name would make them stand out.
