I was told Valentina or Lana were on the list but I think Harper is better choice.
It's quite unisex which I was surprised about, thought she would go for something super girly. At least her name will allow her to find her own personality/style.
Her dad is a top sportsman so she may take after him and be a tomboy.

Harper sounds very masculine. I don't like it for a girl. Also doesn't sound nice in other languages (e.g. French, German, Spanish)

Valentina or Lana on the other hand are gorgeous feminine names that sound lovely in most languages.

Seven was his shirt number at Man Utd and for England.

thehairybabysmum · 11/07/2011 09:19

My friend has a little girl called Harper, it's a lovely name and she is so adorable so now the name is even more lovely IYSWIM.

'Seven' though, thats just bonkers. Mind you it does open up a whole new realm of baby names...i lived at no 40 when ds1 was born and moved to a no. 13 before DS2...looks like i missed a trick there!!

bevrichy · 11/07/2011 09:19

Harper's ok not sure about seven though!! congratulations to the becks

johnworf · 11/07/2011 09:20

Awful name but rich enough parents to get away with it.

johnworf · 11/07/2011 09:21

...and Harpie for short? snort

effingwotnots · 11/07/2011 09:21

Love the name Harper. Can't bloody use it now though can I!! Envy

AttilaTheMeerkat · 11/07/2011 09:25

Sounds like a cleaning product.

Seven as her middle name is particularly awful.

duckdodgers · 11/07/2011 09:26

harpie Grin

CoffeeIsMyFriend · 11/07/2011 09:31

I like the name Harper, although I doubt it has anything to do with To Kill A Mocking Bird, more likely to be from "Wizards of Waverley Place" on Disney Channel... can you tell I watch too much kids TV with my little darlings? Grin

There is a girl called Harper in that programme, one of the main characters. Wink

hardcolin · 11/07/2011 09:34

I've just seen this comment posted by a guy on DailyMail Online,

"Well its gonna be easy for her when she is older and a guy in a bar asks for her name and number...."

I am gutted! Am 40+3 and our chosen name for our daughter was Harper. Now we're going back to the drawing board.

At least I didn't have the baby last week and call her Harper I suppose.

TrinaLuciusMalfoy · 11/07/2011 09:40

sleepywombat 'doubt v much they've read To Kill a Mockingbird'

Doubt v much they've read To Kill a Mockingbird anything Wink

I honestly expected something a lot more out there/übergirlisch

hardcolin · 11/07/2011 09:44

I agree, more übergirlisch, Trina . I expected that too

PinotLovesRonWeasley · 11/07/2011 09:46

Suitably twattish.

oohlaalaa · 11/07/2011 09:46

I'm not keen on the name, but it could be worse.

Eglu · 11/07/2011 09:46

I quite like Harper. Not sure about Seven. I am surprised at them using Harper though, doesn't Nicole Ritchie have a Harper. I would expect them to use something nobody else had.

breadandhoney · 11/07/2011 09:47

I quite like it, but expected them to go for something much more girly. It does kind of sound like "half past seven" though Hmm

unclefest · 11/07/2011 09:47

how stupid.

stressheaderic · 11/07/2011 09:49

VERY surprised by such a unisex name choice. Seven though, with all the associations...kind of like that.

electra · 11/07/2011 09:49

I think Harper is lovely. Not sure about Seven - I suppose they must have chosen that for some reason.

breadandhoney · 11/07/2011 09:50

Kitty - disappointed for you. Abby Clancey named her baby after our DD when she was only a few months old (middle name and all). I was oddly devastated. But at least she's not as high profile as the Beckhams. As you say, at least you didn't have your baby before they did!!

puffling · 11/07/2011 09:51

Harper - tedious American name (although the image of a cherub playing a harp is itself quite pleasant).

Harper Seven - sounds like the name of a supermarket's own brand of tramp lager.

Not surprised Victoria went for a masculine name. She is quite masculine herself.
