There are some names which I've been quite surprised to see returning. For example, Edith was my granny's name. Much as I loved her, I was never keen on the name and can only presume the little Ediths now arriving are due to the Radio 1 DJ or something.

Are there any names which would surprise you if they were revived? For me, the list might include:

Girls

Doris
Ermyntrude
Gertrude

Boys

Arnold
Herbert
Roderick

I can imagine Arnold (Arnie) having a come-back but not Herbert!! I don't think Roderick every went away.

Those girls names are awful and I would add Myrtle to it.

I'm sure Trudie, Herbie and Bertie are all making a comeback.

My bets are on Norman and Sandra.

Can't believe Myrtle is back - wow!!!

brimfull · 18/12/2010 12:34

Nigel is an AWFUL name

tummytickler · 18/12/2010 12:35

I love Gilbert and Eileen. Doris was a contender but too similar to dd's name.

I cannot imagine Sharon coming back (although a shame as it is a lovely name) or Brenda, Doreen, Sheila, Brian, Kevin, Gary or Ian.

Ds was nearly Herbert too and dh loves Hilda.

Actually - maybe I should be looking at this thread for inspiration and see how long it takes my favourite name (Shirley) to turn up!

AllieW · 18/12/2010 12:37

Desmond
Dennis
Edgar
Roger

I would be surprised at Hubert but I know a little Herbert known as Herbie
