Baby names

I'll eat my hat if that name comes back!

There are some names which I've been quite surprised to see returning. For example, Edith was my granny's name. Much as I loved her, I was never keen on the name and can only presume the little Ediths now arriving are due to the Radio 1 DJ or something.

Are there any names which would surprise you if they were revived? For me, the list might include:

Girls

Doris
Ermyntrude
Gertrude

Boys

Arnold
Herbert
Roderick

My father's friends were all called names such as:

Trevor
Derek
Brian
Eric
Colin

etc so for me they will always be old man names and just urgh. I'm another who can't stand:

Ethel
Hilda
Maureen/Noreen/Eileen
Deirdre (particularly can't stand Deirdre! - Dreary Deirdre!)
Mavis

Lunar, Dh was fighting his corner for Agamemnon if Dd2 had been a boy, thankfully we had a girl!

My FIL's middle name is Arbogast! It's the patron saint of Alsace. DN's middle name is - wait for it...Ernestine Shock It was the name of one of DH's grandmother's sisters. We chose the name of one of her sisters as DD's middle name too but we chose Sophie, a bit kinder!

OK, heard a new one at Gymboree today - Minnie!

Clearly not gone for good but it must be fairly unusual surely.

I dont think that boys will be given 'neutral' names like Lindsay, Leslie and Ashley anymore.
