My friend's little sister has this name and I think that her pronunciation is beautiful, but think that most people would pronounce it differently.

How would you pronounce it?

Like Alice-e-ah

Tiramisu1 · 06/04/2019 22:07

Alisha like Patricia

RobbieLoo · 07/04/2019 00:53

I've heard it as both Alissia and Aleesha . Until I was in my 30's I had never heard anyone actually say it, so I thought it was pn Alec-Uh.

NunoGoncalves · 07/04/2019 01:07

This thread is from 2010, guys

If you like Alissia pronunciation how about spelling it Elysia? One of my friends it’s an elysia nn lyss :)

Tiramisu1 · 07/04/2019 13:27

Elysia would be pronounced El-EE-sia

MollyYouInDangerGirl · 07/04/2019 18:39

I would pronounce it aleesha, but I know 1 person who spells it that way where its pronounce 'a-leess-ee-a'

Personally out of all variations i probably like the name Alyssa the best, as i think it's pronounced nicely but I'm not keen on the spelling!

Eustasiavye · 08/04/2019 07:54

I know people who pronounce it Al ee sh a and
Alice-ee-ah

I only like the Alice-ee-ah sound.

hopelesslyromantic93 · 09/04/2019 12:28

I only known one and it causes endless confusion 🙈 I would pronounce it al-ee-sha but she pronounces it al-ISS-ia which I do think is nicer I just wouldn't associate it with the spelling.

optimisticpessimist01 · 09/04/2019 22:16

A-lis-ee-a

rachelhobson · 24/04/2019 17:22

Al-iss-ee-ah . anything else is silly

coastergirl · 24/04/2019 20:44

I have a friend who recently had a girl and called her Alicia. I didn't assume, just asked her how she was pronouncing it! Hers is Alissa.

MumUnderTheMoon · 24/04/2019 23:16

Al-ee-see-a

foxtiger · 28/04/2019 13:19

I'd pronounce it aLISSia unless I knew the person whose name it was pronounced it differently.

But you wouldn't pronounce Felicia, "Felissya"

Actually I would (almost - ia rather than -ya)

NameChangeSameRage · 29/04/2019 06:54

Aa-Liss-E-Ah.

Justus22 · 29/04/2019 18:34

I think it is Aleesha but I too much prefer Alissia but spelt Alicia x

desparate4sleep · 29/04/2019 18:59

I like this name as you intend it to be pronounced but I know three and all of them are aleesha which I dont like at all.

Lavenderblues · 30/04/2019 07:53

The problem with English is that there are often several pronunciations for a name. So names like Patricia, Felicia and Alicia can all be pronounced as either -isha or -ic ia

Moonbea · 30/04/2019 19:30

Depends how you want to say it? I have a neice who is an a A-lee-see-ah and a neighbour who is an A-lis(as in list)-sia and an old school friend who was an A-lee-sha.

All spelt Alicia

Durgasarrow · 01/05/2019 05:03

A lish a

tiramisu1 · 01/05/2019 12:42

In England, I'd say Alisha, like Patricia.

On the Continent, I'd say Al-eec-ia, like Pat-reez-ia.

Prettylittlelady · 07/05/2019 21:12

I would say Al iss ee a

Soconfusedrn · 08/05/2019 01:31

A-liss-ee-ah
Beautiful name
Also my cousins name so I am biased but she has always had compliments on how pretty her name is
