Found 'the one' - and it's not Beauden [grin]

Hi everyone,

Well, after a few days of constant name games, me and dh are sorted. Thanks to everyone's help we have decided not to go with Beauden after the BAD reaction on here. Or Indigo or Lyric or Soren. Lots of you still will hate our choices but I think you know when you have decided because you don't care less anymore what others think (in a nice way).

Soooo. our final choices are:

Girl: Sonnet Melody
Boy: Winter Beau Alexander.

See, I still have my Beau in there Grin.

I think these fit in really well with our other dc. The only big problem is that we have an Autumn so it may well sound contrived. But they aren't going to be joined at the hip and will have their own identities.

One last favour!!!

Can anyone suggest a nice third name to go with Sonnet Melody? (Our other three have all got two middle names so I want to do the same).

Was thinking perhaps:

Sonnet Melody Grace
Sonnet Melody Eve
Sonnet Melody Erin

Want a classic name she can fall back on if she hates her other two names.

Anyway, thank you for all your help. I think I can almost leave these boards in peace now Grin

Asa is said the same way as Acer there? Here it's ACE-uh, whereas Acer would be Ac-ER. I like Asa quite a bit myself but plan on having a Jack at some point and Ace and Jack is a bit too much for me. :)

Arizona darling, Indigo is too far out but Winter isn't? :o Really do like Skyler though, I knew a darling little one.

Congrats again!

CheerfulYank · 09/10/2010 01:53

Goood morning! It's only 8o'clock at night here.

BodyUnknown · 09/10/2010 02:15

I like unusual names. My daughter is Severine Ivy (actually, if she were a boy, I'd have quite liked Sirius, and I always loved Ivy as a less-common nature name...) I do not personally know any other Severines, although I am aware of the French 70s Eurovision singer! I'd be quite flattered if they started popping out everywhere, if a little Shock

I read (and loved!) the first nine pages - is there a baby yet OP?

JustKeepSwimming · 09/10/2010 06:35

Up early with DS2 here

OP, of the 3, my order of preference would be:

Skyler Jem Alexander
Skyler Beau Alexander
Skyler Beau Winter
:)

I like both Paxton & Barley too:)

mathanxiety · 09/10/2010 06:49

A few more to keep you up at night:

Arlo (barberry tree)
Samson (sun)
Absalom (association with a tree; unhappy story but nice name)
Chaney (oak)
Gideon (feller of trees)
Hollis (holly tree)
Quincy (refers to fifth son, but nice unusual name)
Dashiell (no reason, just unusual, nice name imo)
Colman (pronounced Coll-mawn)/ Coleman; means little dove (Irish)
Coltrane (reference to music, nice name)
Arnold (eagle ruler, Old German)
and
Cosimo (universe/order)

(I love Severine, BodyUnknown)

mathanxiety · 09/10/2010 06:50

I really don't like Skyler.

thumbwitch · 09/10/2010 07:14

ok, found another couple of contenders -
Corylus - the hazel tree, nn Cory
Aesculus - horse chestnut (although you might have issues with spelling and pronunciation with that one)

thumbwitch · 09/10/2010 08:12

How about Larch? That's a good one...

arizonagirl · 09/10/2010 09:24

Chaney - hmmmm, like that. But just googled it and it doesn't seem to have any nature connections (googled oak).

Still liking Sirius. Got to go - back later.

Morning, just checking in.

Skyler Jem Alexander for me. I think it flows beautifully.

Adair · 09/10/2010 10:02

Yay for Skyler! I think Sky is a lovely name for a boy too.

PS I love Asa too... but dd's friend-who-has-the-same-name-as-her (unusual name too!) has a little brother called this. So we couldn't really go for this for dc3.

DanceInTheDark · 09/10/2010 10:25

Cassius?

I really don't like Sonnet and Melody together ... its 2 words describing the same thing - "Little Song" "song"

obviously it is your choice but you dd ask for opinions - possibly a different thread now ha ha!

Notyetamummy · 09/10/2010 17:18

My vote is for

Skyler Jem Alexander

then

Skyler Beau Alexander

the

Skyler Beau Winter

CheerfulYank · 09/10/2010 17:33

Asher? (Ash)
Phoenix
Canyon
Indigo :o
Grey
Fintan (white fire apparently)
Peregrine (Perry)
Rush

Really do like Skyler though :)

TooImmature2BMum · 09/10/2010 18:35

I like Peregrine, but it's a little too Right Honourable, if you know what I mean. Of course, I'm now going to suggest Gabriel, which is only connected to nature in the loosest possible sense and a bit like Ashley (as in Gone With the Wind Ashley) in being slightly girly. The nature connection comes from Far From the Madding Crowd, in which a character called Gabriel Oak is supposed to symbolise nature...(I did Thomas Hardy for 6th year English and that one fact seems to have stuck.)

Back on Peregrine, I once read about a Peregrine whose family nicknamed him Hawk. I like clever-funny nicknames like that.

mathanxiety · 09/10/2010 21:35

Chaney explanation

Sonnet Melody is a little like 'words and music' -- is this what you meant, DanceintheDark?

mathanxiety · 09/10/2010 21:37

'Chene' is oak in French

arizonagirl · 09/10/2010 22:53

Evening everyone. Just checking in after a busy old day in Mothercare.

Some nice suggestions; CheerfulYank - do not tempt me to go back to Indigo Grin.

Well, we thought we had settled on:

Skyler Beau Alexander ('cause I got my Beau in)

but I notice that the preference seems to be for Skyler Jem Alexander. So I need to sort that bit out - dh isn't keen on Jem. I like it a lot though.

I take your point about Sonnet Melody but I do like it and suspect changing it would take another 400 posts to sort.

So I think we are almost there. And to think if it wasn't for you lot, Beauden would be here any time soon (if it's a boy!)

ShoshanaBlue · 09/10/2010 23:27

Love the name Asa - are you a Manchester City fan by any chance?

mathanxiety · 10/10/2010 06:31

How about a really unusual one -- Justice?

CheerfulYank · 10/10/2010 06:52

I just love both Indigo and Grey, but I have a last name which makes it impossible to give my children a color for a first name. :( So I try to push them on other people! :)

russiandolly · 10/10/2010 07:41

Hello: probably mentioned already, sorry, but what do you think of Oliander or (and I love this) Woody?!

BonzoDooDah · 10/10/2010 08:46

Still no baby eh?

Well you asked for preferences so mine are:

  1. Idris Beau Alexander
  2. Zephyr Beau Alexander
  3. Skyler Beau Alexander

arizonagirl · 10/10/2010 10:32

Ha ha ha. Thanks for making me laugh this sunny morning. First at Cheerful Yank for getting me thinking about Indigo yet again!!! Then I just had to laugh at your suggestion, Russiandolly about Woody. I'm sure us English girls can appreciate why??? Grin Grin. Oliander not bad - thanks for thinking of me still.

BonzoDooDah - you made me laugh too - what lovely name choices Wink. Lovely friend called Idris, Zephyr probably could grow on me but not in the time available....and Skyler Beau Alexander - what great taste you have Grin Grin Grin

Woody is the same in America, not to worry :)
