Found 'the one' - and it's not Beauden [grin]

Hi everyone,

Well, after a few days of constant name games, me and dh are sorted. Thanks to everyone's help we have decided not to go with Beauden after the BAD reaction on here. Or Indigo or Lyric or Soren. Lots of you still will hate our choices but I think you know when you have decided because you don't care less anymore what others think (in a nice way).

Soooo. our final choices are:

Girl: Sonnet Melody
Boy: Winter Beau Alexander.

See, I still have my Beau in there .

I think these fit in really well with our other dc. The only big problem is that we have an Autumn so it may well sound contrived. But they aren't going to be joined at the hip and will have their own identities.

One last favour!!!

Can anyone suggest a nice third name to go with Sonnet Melody? (Our other three have all got two middle names so I want to do the same).

Was thinking perhaps:

Sonnet Melody Grace
Sonnet Melody Eve
Sonnet Melody Erin

Want a classic name she can fall back on if she hates her other two names.

Same about Rowan. Still think it's fab and unusual enough. Surely less common than Logan? Certainly appropriate for the season.

I'm afraid I dislike Sonnet more and more, it adds a pretentious note to Autumn and Ocean IMHO. How about Haiku?

How about Wolf or Tiger?

They'd go well with your other childrens names I think.

I rather liked Winter (funny how once you go with the weirdy names and give up the NO! mentality you actually start to like them) but a no go with Autumn.

I do actually like Wolf and Tiger now. they have cute cub connotations for babies (Wolfie v cute) but are strong names for an adult.

Just out of interest, do you have nn's for your other dc's?

I love Indigo! Don't let anyone put you off it. Have you read the Casson family books by Hilary McKay? The mother is an artist and the children are: Girls, Cadmium (Caddie), Saffron (Saffy) and Rose, and the boy is Indigo. He's such a great character!

My DS is Rowan. I think it is getting quite popular along with Rohan. Probably too popular for your taste.

I did like Tanner but didn't dare use it. I also liked Blaise but DP didn't.

Tanner - Old English origin, and the meaning of Tanner is "leather maker"

If you like Skyler, what about Skye for a boy? After the island. I have a cousin called this and have known a couple of others too (all male). I know it's a girl's name too, but I consider it to be unisex because I knew the male Skyes first.

Please go with Schuyler, I don't know why but I've been thinking about this all day and the name has really grown on me to the point where I absolutely love it!

I really don't think that spelling will be too much of an issue. No more than other names. My name is Nicola Holmes & I get Nicola, Nichola, Nikola, Nihcola & even Nicloa.

(I sort of wish we'd given our Sky/Skyler the 'proper' Schuyler spelling but dh was, and stil is, adamant that Skyler looked better...).

Evening you wonderful people. Soo....just given a lot of time to the above suggestions. Here goes:

Russiandolly and Fermina... like Orlando but have a close friend with an Orlando and it feels like it has been taken. Nice name though.

BridesHeadRegardless - Wolf and Tiger would be hilarious with our surname which is another animal (I will say no more). I also don't think my parents would speak to me again = they are not happy about our unusual name choices although they have accepted the others. Mentioned Cypress to my mum the other day and she went VERY quiet!!

Lola0109 - Logan gets called Lolo, Autumn gets called Autie, and Ocean gets called Oshea (people are going to be able to identify me soon - oh well, all good fun).

CheerfulYank - yes, I love Indigo too but that has gone as being too far out, And I prefer Skyler.

BurleyBurley - Blaise is a lovely name. Really like it. Don't like the meaning though which is 'to stutter and stammer'. Not that that was our ultimate reason for eliminating it - it just didn't seem to flow with our surname and someone mentioned that it reminded them of a lad with tatoos and chains (kind of stuck in my mind).

TooImmature2Bmum - love Skye for a girl - think I prefer Skyler for a boy. Plus our surname probably necessitates at least two syllables.

Notyetamummy - I totally agree that the spelling Schuyler is much more aesthetically pleasing. However, I have asked a couple of people how they would pronounce this name and both said 'Shuler'. I don't want to choose a name that no-one can spell or read and think Skyler would give him a far easier time (even if it doesn't look so great). Adair, I think you made the right choice as explained above.

DownyEmerald - don't like Inigo - sorry . Feel bad slating your help but hey, still grateful for your time.

Mummylovessadie - some nice names there . Really like Becks (but too short for our surname), Paxton is nice (although too much like Braxton at the moment - sure that connection would be forgotten in time). Also like Barley a lot although he would probably be called Barmy. Good luck with baby.

So, where does that leave me. Cassiell keeps coming into my mind - will mention it to dh. And Bailey and Blaise. Others I think won't take over from Skyler. So at this point in time I think our names continue to be stuck at:

No, don't leave - I am totally fine with you not liking Sonnet. Afterall, it isn't the most commonest of names and so is bound to evoke different reactions. Eg. know my parents will hate it. But I still love it. Acer is a cool name. will mention it to dh

Haven't we done the Acer thing? It's a brand of computer, as well as being the beautiful trees.

Chalat - Sonnet means 'little song' and is pronounced 'sonit'. It is an English poem with a particular rhyming pattern.

Had another thought - Salix! it's for the willow tree, sounds like Felix but waaaay less common and very nature-y. There must be other Latin names we've missed as well, will look later.

Have to go now and do RL - am enjoying this thread though, allows me to unleash all my wildest fantasy names (still favouring Zephyr - not sure DH would go for it though!)
