miaou - some of those fabrics are so gorgeous
what are you going to make? esp with the kids one?

made another beautiful (if i say so myself!) girly card last night (forgot to take a photo, do you all take photos of everything you make?), showed dh and he said 'the prob is you are too good, they look shop bought'
of course it will be totally wasted on the 2-yr old it's going too

now need to sort out a 10-yr wedding anniversary for my sis.

jks - hi, glad to see you joining in!

where is everyone???

haven't done any crafting today but did make a fish mobile with dd for her bedroom

fun week ahead, we are supposed to be having all our soffits, bargeboards and guttering replaced this week, goodbye old yukky, dirty stuff, hello nice, shiny, gleaming white plastic!

once thats done, we're also having 4 windows replaced which are all blown and full of condensation and a new front door

i got told off at another forum - i like it better here
i've had a very expensive day taking dd shopping for summer clothes {bought myself a loads few bits too} in primart - i know,i know but i can't really afford anywhere else and she's 13 so to her quantity is better than quality!!!

Miaou · 22/06/2008 22:26

JKS - with the kids alphabet one, I'm thinking I might cut out some of the pictures and sew them randomly on the bottom of curtains, or on cushion covers - I haven't really got enough fabric to do much else, and I think it's too "busy" to make a nice bag or suchlike. Actually, lets be realistic, it'll probably sit in the bottom of my stashbag for the next five years

The red and green I've already started doing something with, but then had a glass of wine with my sunday tea so all crafting had to stop for the night - can't do anything after a glass of vino, what a pushover!

Miaou · 22/06/2008 22:28

ooooooooooh vintage, where were you told off??? do tell!!!

Miaou · 22/06/2008 22:30

LOL just found it - pmsl - I tried to do a link too and got rejected

Very useful site though, am getting to grips with it, do persevere!

meridian · 22/06/2008 22:31

hello everyone

hi JKS and welcome

the crafts forum is nice enough but is so slow... DH has gone to bed and I suppose I will as well in a minute... just a little bit of a potter on mumsnet...

no crafting today but did get to go see Iron Man with DH. busy crafting day tommorow though. not sure doing what its late and i'm tired.

ranting · 22/06/2008 22:44

Hello, must get round to browsing blogs and stuff. Have had a good read of thread now. Must leave some comments.

Although I must say I do love your suit Miaou, very lovely.

lucykate · 22/06/2008 22:49

vv got her wrist slapped pmsl

the other place is good for crafty stuff, but i think if we chat like we chat here, all the other members will be reading, looking at their computer screens with this expression on their face

OP posts:
meridian · 22/06/2008 23:00

what if we did like a conference chat in Messenger or something? lest then we wouldn't show how crazy we are to the outsiders.

vInTaGeVioLeT · 22/06/2008 23:05

yeah at that other place you're not allowed to freaking swear and everything you say must be suitable for a child to read well in the words of foul-mouthed nan
"what a load of feffing bol*#@ks"

meridian · 22/06/2008 23:09

vv- lol... you can't swear but its perfectly ok to have an emoticon of a horse taking a s&*%

vInTaGeVioLeT · 22/06/2008 23:16

pmsl

meridian · 23/06/2008 09:10

morning ladies...

today's list of things to do

order toggles and findings done
sort out prints of painted pages
finish kitchen swap
finish russian doll swap
do some sketches
stain some book pages
make a bracelet or necklace with ym one last toggle
go over to house we are buying and hack at garden with machete and flame thrower. (still with solicitors, DH says he will chase them up about it today)

jeangenie · 23/06/2008 09:19

hi JKS, welcome

I don't like that other place so much either...those moderators have very beady eyes...it reminds me of being back at school, and I was never that good at obeying there...I can feel my truculent teenage self coming to the fore...I got a response to one message saying she was just waiting to use her "mass ban" button, eh hello

so, craft talk strictly over there, tales of what you might do to Johnny Depp if you found yourself naked in a country house surrounded by people too interested in their crafting to notice here...

went to make london yesterday - had great day out - will blog later

otherwise have a bit of knitting news but not much and not much else, still having to exercise and lie with hot things/cold things pressed to various parts of me rather than craft

BAH!

Miaou · 23/06/2008 09:20

Tillyboo · 23/06/2008 10:32

Welcome JkS !
I need to sit down and red through all the weekends posts as have been a tad busy to catch up.

This is what I have been up to.
Just scanning through some of the posts, there are a lot of things 'to do' ... puts me to shame really.

Just off swimming ..
Have a lovely day all.

meridian · 23/06/2008 11:20

ok I have stained some pages, and painted 6 pages waiting for them to dry before I add details with a illustration pen... one is of a pug, but some how he is a bit on the obese side, looks like he swallowed a beach ball... I'll blog them a bit later...

oh and managed to stick my paint brush in my coffee cup.. then forgot and drank the rest of my coffee.... mmmm acrylics..

Tillyboo--- the cloud doorstop is totally fantastic!

vInTaGeVioLeT · 23/06/2008 11:27

i'm sorry but that "beadsage" is just rude just been over there again and he's telling people off for dragging up old threads TBH it's not that easy a forum to use or is it just me?
meridian your idea of live conference chat is good but i don't have them {i used to have msn but it got on my nerves as i kept getting interrupted!!![grumpy]} also i guess we all just dip in and out of the threads.
no craft time for me today

jeangenie · 23/06/2008 11:32

I don't find it easy to use either I'm afraid...I still haven't figured out how to find threads I am on, or am interested in, dunno how to "subscribe" to any

I think is best kept for specific crafty enquiries. is a shame as the chat is one of the nicest parts about this thread.

mmm, meri, that coffee sounds yummy!

lucykate · 23/06/2008 11:54

jg, you're right, it is best for craft only chat. there is some useful stuff on there if you search old threads. for instance, i had no idea that if you did a craft fair, you really need to take out public liability insurance! another thing to add to the list of reasons why you won't find me ever doing one

OP posts:
meridian · 23/06/2008 12:06

is it just me or is crafts forum being a bit authoritarian? all hail and whatnot... I don't think any of us have posted anything bad or rude to have been pounced on.. all we have done is say hello to each other on the intro threads... I have been on for a few months now and I thought it was ok and helpful.. but I find it really wierd that they are going on and on about it not being a place to chat when there are loads of threads on their that are just chatting... so its ok if you are admin but not if you are just a little crafty person that wants to talk to other crafty people...

I have jsut uploaded 5 prints of the black apple tree painted page to my etsy shop as there have been 108 views in a little over a week of it being posted on the etsy shop... we shall see how it goes..

lucykate · 23/06/2008 12:10

god, i'm so stressed!

we need to sort out a new mortgage deal, no-one will deal with me, they all want to speak to dh despite the fact that i do all our family finances

ironic, isn't it that sheila's wheels insurance was actually more expensive done in my name as a 'sahm', so i had to do the policy in dh's name! they just don't get that a scary, hormonal woman at home all day with a screaming toddler is actually quite a deterrent against burglers!

and if you try and put 'self employed designer' in the system, alarms go off and the whole thing goes into shut down saying 'does not compute, does not compute'

rant over

there are men, and scaffolding outside ripping down rotten wood, yay!, and VV, the book arrived, the richard scarry make it book, it's fab!!!, so glad you pointed me in that direction!

OP posts:
jeangenie · 23/06/2008 12:19

I've just seen a thread that she/he has started to tell us off, to be honest I find it all quite pathetic...I agree that we haven't done anything out of order other than greet each other...possibly my message about whether we could chat or not was a bit off, and VV obviously did something to piss her/him off but tbh it is a forum, surely a bit of chat/humour with friends mixed in within the crafting talk would be ok...I guess maybe it came across like we wanted to just take over and do nothing but talk about non-craft related stuff, but if she/he took the time to look at anyone's profile it is obvious we are all fairly serious crafters, just ones who come with a sense of humour and fun. I think beadsage is a bif miffed by the comments about our last site, she/he seems to feel an enormous sense of ownership over that site and all this talk of living rooms and boot and wallpaper is starting to irritate. If anything she/he is the only one who has displayed bad manners so far. Oh and the little poppet who posted on her latest thread saying they think we are "ignoring her", lick, lick, lick. LOL it is all I can do (honestly) to sit on my hands and not point out how unfriendly and bad mannered she/he is being...but obviously some of our "gang" (she/he has taken particular umbrage to that little term one of us used in a jokey way) use the site a lot and have reputations there so I will say nothing. I can't see me being on there too often though Will keep in touch with NBG through her blog and email though

can you imagine anyone from MN towers butting in the way s/he does
