i know they're not cheap, but you get everything you need in the kit, it gives all the instructions to get you used to working with a pattern, good idea for a first attempt, don't forget, you could reuse the pattern with any fabric you choose. kits are a good place to start if you've not made clothes before.

I could do with losing 3/4 of a stone or so, but everytime I think about doing soemthing about it it makes me overeat...it's weird...so I think I just have to live with my nice big arse

I've just blogged some pincushions...I seem to be developing quite a collection...

Hi all - I have done a bit of crafting buy not blogged yet. Signed up for anther Mystery Bag challenge - this time entitled Bollywood. Will post some pics when I get round to it.
Had to go & meet some Treasure Hunt people today - I don't know if anyone remembers a while back a company posted a Business Ad on here about treasure hunt kits. They looked really good but I made a comment that there were none near me (all down south!) so I ended up saying I'd so one local to me & they said OK! Me & DH put one together & we went & had a meet up today! Quite exciting! It looks like we might do another for them too

justkeepswimming · 29/06/2008 21:21

hi all, no crafting for atm as in-laws here and busy.
next card is for FIL anyway so have to wait till he's gone home

a recent birthday card for a little girl was very appreciated yesterday at her party (by her mum i hasten to add not her, lol!) so that's always a boost.

love looking at all the blogs and pics

right, finishing glass of wine, waiting for football to finish (don't know why i don't care who wins!), then off to bed.

Doir - sounds like you are doing illiccit drugs with all that talk of perote-ing ...didn't Jim Morrisson or one of those psychadelic types spend a lot of time in the mexican desert peyote-ing too???

meridian · 30/06/2008 09:18

jg- I may jsut have to take you up on that offer!

awful morning... DH grousing at me becuse I'm not doing enough aroudn the house on the weekend.. that his mum came round and did two sets of dishes, ect, ect while I was over at a friends for tea with DS so the kids could play... WTF I do loads around here so I slacked off and didn't wash the coffee pot out last night.. I didn't have coffee last night.. shock horror... and his mum jsut does stuff even if the house is cleaner than it is now she would still find something to do and do it... so she can help out... I let her becuse she lives on her own and helping us makes her feel wanted and useful....

oh and then this happend later in the morning brill thread anyway but I had to put my two cents worth in.

ranting · 30/06/2008 09:38

Morning all,

Oh Dizzy, didn't realise that, and you have an emo too. Ds is an emo with mod tendencies, we bought him Quadrophenia for Christmas and he's a lettle bit obsessed with Vespa's (and pork pie hats)!!

Have got back in the crafting swing, with a mini tote cotton bag, which is in shades of pale pink and very deep lavender (ok it's pink and blue). Really must blog my doll and my knitting bag though.

puppydavies · 30/06/2008 10:13

lol my ears pricked up at the mention of a weekend spent peyoteing too

i found out on saturday i won't have a job much longer. bad news for me, but worse for everyone else involved it's not a huge income but it's all my fun money and my entire craft budget. bollocks.

does anyone know if it's actually possible to turn a profit with an etsy shop - i.e. would it pay anything worthwhile by the hour?

lucykate · 30/06/2008 11:31

oh no pd, sorry to hear about your job.

OP posts:
jeangenie · 30/06/2008 12:40

that's a bugger PD

people do make money on etsy - eg blackapple, ashleyG etc. The ones I guess make most are those that do prints, that can be easily editioned and don't take hours of handmade work per item

well, I am at work, trying valiantly to focus on work but wanting to go out and amble over to the photographer's gallery to look at some photos and eat cake for lunch...my gums still ache after friday's little adventure so I think I need to eat soft cake and drink tea for every meal...I thought I might lose weight through not really being able to chew but since I seem to be swapping all my healthy but way too crunchy stuff like apples etc for cake now maybe not...

to make money doing any kind of craft, you need to be 50% crafts person, 50% business person. as etsy is a huge online market place, new sellers get easily lost in the crowd. it's all about offering something different, building up a reputation doing it and making your product commercial and profitable, if that all makes sense!

i had a thought this morning about a new product which i've just had a go at making while ds is asleep, and i think it's going to work!. it looks pretty crap atm, as none of the fabrics or thread go together, i always make up a 'dummy run' with a new pattern in left overs from my odds & ends bag to get the template right. i think tomorrow might be a trip out to dunelm, i think i need some rivets.
