Oh no @MerylSqueak - I'm so sorry Sad. RIP your little pal Flowers. It's so awful to lose a loved pet.

You've done some lovely work on here MerylSqueak and I'm so sorry about your puss.

I'm so sorry @MerylSqueak

Too hot to craft, eh girls?

We're at a pretty low ebb here what with Covid, FIL, buggered ankle and the cat. Getting by though. Thank God it's the hols.

I had a podiatry appointment in another town, so naturally I looked out the local yarn shop. They stock a lot of this brand Adriafil. Have you come across it? They have really lovely things. I treated myself to some although I know I shouldn't. The navy and yellow ar Sirdar summer linen and a Wendy's cotton.

I'm going to make the lacy one (but shorter) in the blue and the two colour top in the two colours.

Wow @MerylSqueak that lacy pattern is beautiful! I've never heard of that brand before!

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 21/07/2022 12:31

Oh that’s lovely @MerylSqueak! I really like adriafil.

I’ve been knitting a scarf/shawl, we’re going to France soon and although it’ll be roasting the air con in the car is a bit chilly around the neck. I had one I liked but ripped it out to use the yarn for something else so I’m knitting that pattern again.

How’s everyone for temperature? We had one roasting day, yesterday was chilly and now it’s back to warm…

Fairislefandango · 21/07/2022 16:20

Liking the look of your yarns and patterns, @MerylSqueak ! I've heard of Adriafil but haven't used it. Colours look lovely - yellow and navy are fab together.

Bit chilly here! Dc finished school at 12 today and we went out for lunch. Ds (14) has hit teenage boy growth spurt mode (a bit later than some!) and is suddenly eating loads. He practically inhaled a massive burger and chips and a huge slab of carrot cake and then came home and accidentally had a nap Grin.

I can't remember the last time I knitted or crocheted Shock but the spinning is going well (apart from the fact it seems to give me a sore lower neck/upper back - hoping that will die down as I get used to it!). Planning to finally get started on my handspun Dragonwell cowl on Sunday. We're at a folk festival all day and evening on Saturday.

After I've finished spinning my white Jacob (nearly done) for the cowl, and while I take a break from carding the alpaca, I've got 4 x 25g bundles of different coloured Corriedale. I wasn't that pleased with how the colours of the last lot of 4 went together, so I'm wondering how to deal with the next 4. I had intended to spin one pair end to end into a single, do the same with the other pair and ply them together. Now I'm wondering about plying each colour with white Blue Faced Leicester (I bought 100g of it at the local yarn festival). What would you do, @SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound ?

Eek - that was a long post Blush

I think I should go and watch that set of Craftsy videos again @SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound - the ones you recommended, which have a section on colour blending. I thought I had quite good colour sense, but somehow planning yarn colours is a bit different!

OP posts:
Fairislefandango · 21/07/2022 16:25

I'm thinking maybe make one 2 ply out of the orangey and mustardy ones (the mustardy one has a touch of orange in it) plied with the white, and another 2 ply out of the bluey ones plied with the white?

OP posts:
Fairislefandango · 21/07/2022 16:27

And I'm now thinking of changing colours more frequently, rather than just spinning all of one colour and then changing to the other. I'm a bit indecisive (and clearly have verbal diarrhoea today)Grin

OP posts:
SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 21/07/2022 18:05

@Fairislefandango If it was me, I think I’d ply the orange with the red and then the blue with the green… Then I’d use them in some kind of colour work or slipped stitch pattern with the white as the main colour.

I’m a coward when it comes to barber pole yarn and colour though 😄

Fairislefandango · 21/07/2022 22:16

Yes, you're probably right! I was quite pleased with my purple barber pole though!

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 22/07/2022 11:51

@Fairislefandango Each plied with white would be lovely too, the yarn world is your oyster when it comes to spinning so go for it 😃

I love seeing how different people spin the same types and colours of fibre different ways.

I have the 3 skeins I’ve spun so far drying on the line today. I have to remember to get a photo in daylight!

sophs29 · 22/07/2022 13:03

Ooh @Fairislefandango so many choices! I think white with those colours would look good!
The weather has finally cooled here but it is supposed to heat up again over the weekend!
I haven't got much done, I'm testing negative now but still feeling poorly - I've got a fuzzy head and what feels like the worst head cold ever!

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 22/07/2022 15:06

Oh no @sophs29 that’s horrible for you Sad

It’s sort of close here, warm but a bit humid. My yarn is dry already though and I’ve hoked out the old toy box that came from my MIL’s loft so I can knit in peace for a bit 😀

Sorry you're still feeling bad @sophs29 Sad. Sending get-better vibes your way!

Lovely yarn, @SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound . I especially like the middle one in your picture - how did you achieve that colour mix?

I've finished my white Jacob and have just plied one bobbin full, one more to go. I already have two skeins I made earlier. Looking forward to getting going on the rest of my coloured Corriedale and I have all that alpaca to card and spin! Starting my cowl on Sunday as planned I hope!

It was a different colourway of this fibre @Fairislefandango hilltopcloudshop.co.uk/products/superwash-bfl-ramie-hand-dyed-variegated-100g-42?_pos=22&_sid=00d6238c4&_ss=r

hopefully that link works!

MerylSqueak · 22/07/2022 18:00

I think I may have bitten off more than I can chew with this pattern! It says that once I have done the rib, I should follow the chart (which is fine) ' increasing one stitch.' Does this just mean any kind of increase at the beginning of the first non rib row?

It's Crochet, Knit & Natter 9: So Many Projects, So Little Time. (Oh well - I almost made it rhyme!)
SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 22/07/2022 20:02

I’ve seen patterns ask you do do a single increase in the row after the ribbing to make a lace or cable pattern fit but the ribbing stay in k1p1 order all round. I think that’s what’s happening there @MerylSqueak …

Fairislefandango · 22/07/2022 23:14

Spinning the bluey green Corriedale. Going to ply with the blue. Pretty pleased with the consistency! It's much easier to spin consistently than the Jacob batts, which were a bit lumpy and knotty.
