If you've currently got a project going on during this lockdown, can you post pics of it just for inspiration?! I crochet but I haven't done it in months. I want to start doing it again but I've no idea what? I'm fed up of doing blankets... I have attempted an amigarumi last year but it didn't go great. Blush

@kevinthdorangecarrot ,The only one I did without a pattern was the yellow hat rabbit. RAVELRY has hundreds of free patterns as does Amigurumi today. I have just started learning the amigurumi. I have found some really useful YouTube help. I have also discovered how many aids there are now so I have been buying like crazy.

Because the Arigurumi are made in a spiral I am constantly counting and using bits of paper to mark the rows. If my other half dares speak to me I have to quickly write down where I am. However having watched 7 things I wish I knew before I started. I have bought a set of row counters. Also I have learnt how to decrease without the little hole showing. This is a really easy me to do

Just reading this in bed, will post pics tomorrow.
I've spent ages on a jumper that I wrecked when joining it up.
I've done an OK baby cardigan, a thick (quick) baby blanket, a couple of not great hats, have started a baby hat, and have done a cactus that ended up very loose.
Ongoing simple blanket too.
I want to try socks but not got yarn and am nervous after not getting on well with dpn.

kevintheorangecarrot · 10/05/2020 23:19

@FLOrenze they're amazing and I love Ravelry. I learn better when I watch videos but I would like to start reading patterns as well as I'm getting a bit fed up of watching videos all the time I'd like to be without technology when I'm crocheting!

Loving all of these. It gives me ideas on what to do next! Right now I'm working on a children sized cardigan made with Aran wool I got from Aldi. Hopefully I will complete it this week.

My next project I may do a cable stitched blanket to throw on my bed. I bought 3 more balls of yarns from Poundland today, too Blush

I also forgot to mention I am doing starburst granny squares in between with borders as well to turn into a cushion when completed.

If your children like unicorns, this free pattern from Ravelry is really easy

I've been working my way through knitting
Beatrix Potter characters for my grandson and just finished Mr Tod. I've been trying to teach myself crochet from YouTube without much success. But all your lovely projects have inspired me to have another go.

I have helped a few people to learn crochet. The ones that find it hardest are those that are excellent knitters. The brain needs complete reprogramming with holding a hook against holding needles.

Done Feathers Mcgraw from the Wallace and Gromit short film 'The Wrong Trousers' for DD. Shes 19 but loves stuff like this Grin

I have done 2 projects. The patchwork quilt is my first ever go using some of the fabric stash I've got. I usually knit but do clothes sewing if I have time. Was doing it as a test piece / learning experience and pretty happy with the result.
The crochet blanket is the Happy Little Tree Kit from Derarmores and again I only learnt to crochet last year and could only do treble so my first proper go at something. The cotton blend wool feels so nice.

Wow that patchwork quilt is absolutely beautiful! Also the amigarumi's are very good too!

So unfortunately I have one arm on my cardigan left to crochet but it just went so horribly wrong :( the sleeve on the arm went way too big. Puffed up massively that it even fitted my arm (it is supposed to be for a child!) The hood part is lopsided as well it will not hang up properlySad, I would take a photo but I've packed it away now and will start another project instead... I wasted all evening and all day (plus wasted the yarn!) getting it done, for it to have gone wrong! Anyone reckon I should unwind it and just start again?

Never mind.. Onwards and upwards. Anyone want to share their disastrous projects that they wasted an entire day on as well?! Blush

I've got a kids jumper for a 3 year old that I 'blocked' not knowing what I was doing. I ironed it and it would fit a 10 - 12 year old

Rollerbird · 12/05/2020 14:17

It took weeks........

FLOrenze · 12/05/2020 15:23

I have done that Rollerbird. It is heartbreaking

kevintheorangecarrot · 12/05/2020 16:07

@Rollerbird no way! That's devastating compared to my disaster! I've just undone it all and unravelled what yarn is left of it :( so annoyed that I wasted my time and effort doing it! I only know how to make blankets, hats, socks, mittens etc I have never attempted a cardigan so I think the project was too big for me to do. I will probably try a baby cardigan this time but I've got no one to gift it to.

Try a premature baby and give to maternity ward

bruffin · 12/05/2020 18:06

That happened when i made a gryffindor jumper for DD, it was huge but thankfully she likes them big and baggy

Redshoeblueshoe · 12/05/2020 18:07

Rollerbird I have made some socks that you knit on two needles. Just go on ravelry, and pick knit flat

Rollerbird · 12/05/2020 19:45

@Redshoeblueshoe
Thanks
Will take a look

kevintheorangecarrot · 12/05/2020 21:21

@Rollerbird that's a wonderful idea! I can also make baby hats and socks for them too :) I've also found the perfect and right tutorial on YouTube to crochet a jumper size 3-4 (not a cardigan this time). It better go right this time GrinI am going to begin tomorrow.

Got the tension wrong, so redoing the centre piece. Ardith by Hooked on Sunshine. A good pattern if you want to think of absolutely nothing else - it's impossible to do anything but concentrate.

That looks SO intricate. Well done for that. It's beautiful
