Does anyone fancy a bit of a challenging challenge?

I was wondering how people felt about a challeng to get us into something new?
my idea - we all say which crafts we're into, then get the name of someone who is into a different craft. we then send off a 'starter pack' to that person, with instructions, equipment etc & a simple project to make. a month later we all post up our first attempts at t new craft.

e.g. i do knitting, embroidery & cards. someone could send me a kit for how to make dolls clothes, or cross-stitch or applique a t-shirt. after 4 weeks i have to post up my efforts!

anyone interested? i am, of course, willing to co-ordinate, if someone can set up a gallery for our crafty pictures.

That sounds quite good fun - but might be complicated to arrange but I am happy to sort out a beading or card kit for anyone that wants a go! (I think !!)

kickassangel · 04/02/2007 15:39

yeah, if everyone says they do the same thing, could be tricky, but i think there are enough 'new' crafts to come up with ideas - perhaps we could suggest some if people struggle witha suitable projet?

i have some ideas for knitting, paper making, card making, sewing. would love some ideas for jewellery making, sewing, scrap booking, glass painting.

i think people have to be fairly open to being sent any craft, could be impossible to meet requests.

i was thinking about £10 for equipment, plus postage? i shall bump this for a few days to see who is interested.

oo I like the sound of felting or spinning ! I've never tried that before !

kickassangel · 04/02/2007 17:59

just thought - we could list 3 crafts we ARE interested in, and one we're NOT interested in, should be possible to match up? and then we get something we might try again?

Ok

sounds good.

I like quilling, cardmaking, scrapbooking, making little books (poems etc- I usually write my own but it can be anything). Would love to try beading, handmade paper, glass painting.

I would try pretty much anything except sewing- my wrists aren't strong and neither is my vision, so I struggle with stitching.

ok, if you think you'd like to take part, then email me your addy to [email protected]

also tell me, here or by email
3 crafts you'd be interested in, & 1 you're NOT so keen on, as well as what you might be able to put together.

does a £10 limit (+ postage) sound reasonable?

starter kits can be put together by you, or a bought package.

i think it's safe to assume that everyone will have things like scissors, glue, basic sewing things etc.

Whizzz · 04/02/2007 21:20

Or we could just post what kits we could put togther for others first - so that we know what we could pick from ??

kickassangel · 04/02/2007 21:29

ok, what to do if everyone wants the same kit & there's some poor old cardmaking left over like norman no mates?
hadn't thought of that though, happy to listen to any other suggestions. would people prefer an element of surprise?

Yes maybe you are right! Im sure it will be fine KAA - there seems to be quite a few crafts already mentioned on here !! What a varied bunch we are

Fubsy · 04/02/2007 23:49

Sounds fun.

I dont do much though - knitting (basic) and card making, used to make soft toys a long time ago.

Id like to try something like jewellery making, felting or paper making, but please NOT cross stitching which I tried once and made such a pigs ear of!

Fubsy · 04/02/2007 23:55

Sent an email.

How are you going to work this - are you going to pair people up or what?

kickassangel · 05/02/2007 12:15

i will see how many people are interested & what they want to do - pairing can be more fun as it feels more personal & you might have questions to ask. however, it there's an odd number? so i shall wait until next weekend & look at numbers.
thanks for any emails sent.

Will the person who gets paired with Champs be getting flour eggs and milk through the post as she likes baking?
