Does anyone fancy a bit of a challenging challenge?

I was wondering how people felt about a challeng to get us into something new?
my idea - we all say which crafts we're into, then get the name of someone who is into a different craft. we then send off a 'starter pack' to that person, with instructions, equipment etc & a simple project to make. a month later we all post up our first attempts at t new craft.

e.g. i do knitting, embroidery & cards. someone could send me a kit for how to make dolls clothes, or cross-stitch or applique a t-shirt. after 4 weeks i have to post up my efforts!

anyone interested? i am, of course, willing to co-ordinate, if someone can set up a gallery for our crafty pictures.

I tried hard not to make it 'glueing'
I was trying to find instructions for an 'exploding' card (paper folding) as I made one a while back, couldn't for the life of me remembered how I'd done it but no joy

kickassangel · 03/03/2007 12:10

your instructions lookd v good. i was all set to play the other night when dh came home instead of going out - then he wanted to talk & be sociable so i had to put my new toys away - grr! i will put up some pics when i do get dome done - dh away next week so i will have quiet eves at home.

whizz, I've just been having a play - did the inside of 2 football cards, which are now drying & i will think of something to do on the outside.
then did a girly card with a leaf, a girl in a lime green dress & pink & silver stars, all on a lilac background.

really love the sizzix stuff - i don't think i do enough cardmaking to justify buying one, but may bid on eaby for any shapes i fancy - i've noticed a lot of people sell off packs of them.

did some shapes with the quilling bits, but thinking about a design for a card.

iris folding!! 48 bits of paper to fold & cut, 96 tiny bits of sellotape! were you having a giraffe!! actually, not as bad as i thought it would be, althoug i didn't do quite as many pieces as the design said. quite effective but, like tea-bagging, fiddly & you can't rush it. also, so many pieces of paper make the back bulky & heavy. haven't folded in the back of the card yet, but will need to hold it down with weights. you need very thin paper to do it with.

anyway, had a fun eve & off to bed soon as dd & i both been ill & she might get me up another 6 times tonight!

The pop up ones are really adaptable - I've done all sorts in the past - again you can Google to get other types of pop up to try.

I am happy to cut out any Sizzix shapes for anyone (either you can send the card or I can owrk out a price)

I've never tried the iris folding either but I thought the pack looked interesting

Whizzz · 14/03/2007 20:23

Come on everyone else....what were you sent....what are you doing with it ????
Need pics !

kickassangel · 14/03/2007 21:09

will get round to pics at some point! we are all taking it in turns to be ill, dd is keeping us up at night, dh has been away on business ... i have multiple excuses for my lack of organisation, but will get it done sometime!

kickassangel · 16/03/2007 09:33

i'm at work atm, but will chase this up over the weekend. do you want me to send you somehting? my stash is so huge that it won't all fit in the drawers!

OP posts:
Fubsy · 16/03/2007 10:09

KAA, thats really kind

I do have quite a lot of stuff tho, maybe I should just upload some of the things Ive already done.

Thinking of dipping a toe in the water of jewellery making - any tips anyone?
