Harmony Test - waiting results

Hello, I had my harmony test done Monday night. I was told the lab in London would receive it by Tuesday night and start working on it and that it would take 10-14 working days to come back.

The wait is horrible. Anyone else recently had them done and had to wait that long for it to come back from London?😭

Oh no!! I'm expecting this to happen again to me this round. When I rang the lab they said they'd recommend 2 weeks for a redraw but the ultrasound direct woman wanted me straight back in and I didn't confess that I'd spoken to the lab directly.

You could call the lab and ask what the level was, they told me it rises by about 0.1 or so a week so then you'd have an idea of how long to wait.

Yeah, the lab recommended 2week wait so will be 16 days after previous test, hate the waiting but can't go through this again! She did say often it just says "redraw" and so they can get people in the next day but if the lab suggests 2wk wait it's because they're pretty sure you need that long for the fetal DNA percentage to increase. I'm just going to try my best to put it out of my mind for the next week or so - huge good luck wishes for your redraw, will be keeping everything crossed for you let us know how you get on xx

Thank you, I'm not holding out much hope for a result to honest, I don't know why, I just don't think I'll get one!

I had the nhs screening done anyway and that was a week tomorrow and haven't heard back so presuming they haven't got be massively high risk for anything, it just remains to be seen what the numbers are and whether I'm confident with them or not I suppose!

Aww I'm sure you'll be fine, especially as you were so close to percentage needed xx I declined the NHS testing so have nothing else to look at (not sure if that's good or bad!) Both times they've told me not to bother as their tests are so inaccurate compared to NIPT.

@MaryShelley1818 I’m so sorry I’m just getting back to you now. I’ve been working away & stupidly forgot my phone battery so literally been saving it & managed to get my phone charged now.

I’m so sorry about this. I hope you get the results soon this time. How far along were you when you had the bloods taken?

@JessicaPeach good luck! I hope you get your results soon! Keep us updated!

@FlorenceFlounce @Missy38 thank you☺️☺️ xx

Aww don't worry lovely xx
I was 10+3 so will be 12+5, hopefully that will make enough difference. It's a shame it takes so long to find out but just one of those things.
I have my final assignment due for my first year of degree next Thursday so at least I'll have completed and submitted that before the anxious wait begins xx

JessicaPeach · 03/08/2020 21:48

Still waiting for my results, rang to chase them up earlier but nothing yet.

Hopefully if they received them Tuesday or Wednesday you should definitely have them back this week. Keeping everything crossed for you xx

They had them on Monday! The lab is in Manchester and ultrasound direct take them straight there (they said!) I rang to chase but nothing yet. I'm going to ring the lab directly this morning

Ah ok, good luck xx I rang the lab directly but they don't disclose results over the phone so just to prewarn you they may not be able to tell you anything xx
JessicaPeach · 04/08/2020 12:35

Yes all they can tell you is if they were able to produce a report or not, that's why they were able to tell me last time I needed a redraw. Rang them this morning and they sent the report to ultrasound direct yesterday at 4pm so it's pretty poor form that no one has contacted me yet.

Yeah the lab told me they'd produced a report and sent to Ultrasound Direct and the report was that I needed a redraw. So still didn't help. I'd ring them back again and let them know the lab has told you it was sent yesterday and ask for the results. They were able to check the email box for me and rang me back within 5mins xx
JessicaPeach · 04/08/2020 16:01

I'd already rang them yesterday when they had already had the results and they said they didn't. They've contacted me now and all came back low risk and one of my twins is a boy so that's good to know but the overall service hasn't been great. They kept me waiting nearly 24 hours longer for results and might have done even longer if I hadn't chased them up. I won't be having any more children now but I wouldn't use them for something like this again.

Yay!!! Great that you've got your results and they're low risk, that's all that matters. Congratulations 😊

Definitely no more children for me either but I'd be ok using them again, I think they're all roughly the same from what I've heard/read on here. Got my redraw tomorrow so hopefully I'll find out by end of next week :) xx

Bec123451995 · 04/08/2020 20:09

@JessicaPeach congratulations! I’ve heard some really good things about ultrasound direct but perhaps they’ve gone down hill a bit. I went with private midwives & they did everything they could to get my results before I had to go away for 2 days for work. I think they got the results after 6pm & called me around 7:30pm to tell me my results which I thought was nice.

@MaryShelley1818 good luck tomorrow! Hopefully they’ll get the results back to you before next weekend🤞🏼🤞🏼Have everything crossed for you! I’m finally getting my 12 week scan tomorrow to hoping everything’s good there🙈I thought I wouldn’t stress so much after receiving the harmony results but feel like every appointment is stressful & worrisome. I don’t remember feeling like this with my first🙈xxx

@Bec123451995 thank you! Hope you enjoy your scan today xx

I've had a rough morning with bleeding and cramping so was sent straight up to the hospital by the GP. I saw a wonderful consultant who was really reassuring and because there were no scan slots available he borrowed a machine and quickly scanned me himself. We saw a strong heartbeat and baby was waving and jumping about. It was a quick 1-2min scan but that consultant will never know how much that meant to me.
He sent me home to rest for a week and not work/stress/lift/carry etc. I'm now tucked up on the sofa with a blanket on until it's time for the blood tests tonight xx

@MaryShelley1818 thank you! & good luck!

I’m glad the consultant today was able to give you a bit of reassurance! Definitely rest up for the rest of the week & don’t get too worked up. It’s easy for me to say now but totally understand what you’re going through once you’re waiting for the results & just want answers! xx

Still no news....will give it until Friday and chase them xx Thank you for thinking of me, hope you are well? Xx

JessicaPeach · 13/08/2020 15:42

Anything yet @MaryShelley1818 ? Xx

MaryShelley1818 · 13/08/2020 17:46

I got the results today.....not enough fetal DNA again 😔😪 I'm just devastated. They've suggested waiting until 20wks to redo.
Spoke to Midwife who said last day I can do Combined Screening is tomorrow BUT they've got no availability so "tough"
Leaving me with choice of quadruple test at 16wks (not hugely accurate) and amniocentesis, or just give up, or redo NIPT as late as I can bear it.
I'm bordering on hysterical atm. Wish someone would tell me what to do. What would anyone else do?

JessicaPeach · 13/08/2020 18:04

Oh no!! I'd be fuming! I'd probably ring maternity tomorrow and get a bit funny and say 'so just to confirm, you are refusing me the screening?' It's only a blood test so you'd think even gp could actually take the bloods if necessary?!

If they say no to that I'd probably have the quadruple test anyway but not take much heed to the results and then wait for 20w scan and have harmony redraw afterwards just for your peace of mind. The 20w scan should pick anything out of the ordinary up anyway shouldn't it?

So sorry you are going through this, what a disappointment when it was supposed to provide more reassurance! Did they tell you what your number was?

I rang a different hospital in desperation to try and find someone to help me. The Screening Midwife at the other hospital has sent emails and tried to call my hospital and said I need to speak to them direct in the morning because they should be doing whatever they can to fit me in. Spoke to Scientist in the lab who was lovely but said they just recorded 0% because it was under threshold. She said it doesn't mean something is wrong at all and happens regularly.

I'm so confused and stressed. They've diagnosed me with diabetes too and now on 2 types of insulin and metformin.

I can't remember the last time I was able to just feel happy.
