Hi all.

Last Wednesday I got given the worst news of my life. This is my first pregnancy and they detected NT at over 3.5mm. The ultrasound scan at 13weeks 5 days showed the baby had a flat face, couldn't see nose. They told me the baby will not survive and it looks worse than Down syndrome. I have been asked to come in the next two weeks for an amnio test to confirm what is going on. Anyone experienced the same thing? Any advice will be very helpful. I am so confused right now and have lost my appetite completely. Thanks

Hi all

Just an update since I created this thread. Today I got the results from the baby's tissue, it was a boy. My son. They confirmed he had trisomy 13 - patau syndrome.

I had a mmc and D&C in April.

I am now 7 weeks pregnant and worried however there is always hope and never give up. hope my experience helps anyone who is in need of advice.

Take care x

Thank you ladies.

Junk I'm sorry I'm not ready to go on that thread just yet. Still scared and waiting for 12w scan. I am still on the TTC after mc thread, the ladies there have been very supportive. I will look forward to joining the march 2015 thread once I am feeling more confident about this pregnancy.

It has been a very tough year but I hope my story does help anyone else in this situation. All the best x

Hi hope , I'm so sorry to hear about what you went through losing your baby , it sounds very similar to what happened to me .
I just wanted to say that I also conceived a few months after losing my baby and I worried so much , I had a few minor complications but my son was born healthy and is now a very lively 7 year old !
I hope you can find a way to relax until your scan , & I hope you have been offered an earlier one ? I had a few extra scans which helped ease my worries x

junkfoodaddict · 20/08/2014 20:31

Of course - completely understand. Look forward to you joining us. 12 weeks seems so long away and naturally you'll be anxious. I'm anxious and I am lucky enough not to have had any heartache! I haven't even got a scan date through and lots of ladies are beginning to have theirs now so probably best that you wait given your circumstances. Flowers

ScrambledEggAndToast · 06/10/2014 20:16

Glad it's going well Grin

Hope26 · 11/10/2014 18:11

Hello ladies,

Thanks for the lovely comments and support. The scan went well, no signs of trisomy 13 like it was detected last time.

We also got our blood test results back which were sent to see if my husband and I carried anything which meant that would happen again. It's all clear, we both had normal results, so that's a relief.

20w scan on 4th Nov, every scan I cry, can't help it, but it's good to hear its looking good so far. Please keep me in your prayers.

Xxz

I am so sorry for your loss. Sending you strength and hope for the future. When we lost our baby at 20 weeks we decided our baby also was not destined for this world. It's so heartbreaking but you will heal. All the best xxx
