Hi all, here we are again ...

As always, everyone welcome to pile in with AIBU book synopses, as long as you bring ice cream or something equally tempting for when we're stuck.

To continue mine - I'm in charge but it's terribly difficult to keep control. I don't know how long I can keep their respect. I didn't ask to be in charge ...

OP posts:
Pogleswooooo · 19/10/2010 07:34

Yes,I'm getting medieval too, which probably means its actually 18thC or modern, but ,as this is CJ,probably not fantasy! Grin

CJ,I know you are humble and devout, but is your son the result of a liason out of wedlock?

...I now have a job! Tracking down an evil spirit.Well,DP can help me...

CJsSeveredHead · 19/10/2010 09:24

Ah, a clue at last! Google my dim and distant memory of Eng Lit lectures that I slept through tells me that you will find your true love, Roger, and it won't be Cynthia. But will you get to tell Molly in time? Will we ever find out? [hgrin]

Out of wedlock? Out of wedlock? If I weren't made of sterner stuff, I'd be swooning with horror. I'm not French, but I do wear a wimple - not like that whore, the Queen, who dresses like a tart and captured the so-called King's heart with witchcraft ...

EvilAntsAndMiasmas · 19/10/2010 10:03

Well done young Severed! A masterly piece of cheating remembering! Have a free, er, wicked stepmother? Soil sample? How about an orphaned French baby? Take your pick [hsmile]

Still mystified at both of you...

What makes you think that your DS is headed for the top job Severed?

Poledra · 19/10/2010 10:06

Bah, CJ, I was all ready to shout out 'Catherine of Aragon!' when I realised you had a son - there would be no other wives if you'd had a son.......

MCP!

CJsSeveredHead · 19/10/2010 10:22

Catherine of Where? Nevvereardovver [hgrin]

The current 'King' stole the throne from the true King. He believes he is safe, with his two sons to inherit, but I wonder about that ...

EvilAntsAndMiasmas · 19/10/2010 10:43

ooh have you got a Dastardly Plan, Severed? I've got a bad feeling about the fates of those boys... Where is your DH may I ask?

[hgrin] Poledra

CJsSeveredHead · 19/10/2010 10:51

Well, it depends which DH you mean, Evilphants. The first two are dead [hsad] [hwink] and the current one is doing his best to make sure we're backing the winning side. Can't keep all our eggs in one basket, can we?

EvilAntsAndMiasmas · 19/10/2010 14:21

Aargh NIMCP Severed! Under what circumstances did the new "king" claim the throne, the bounder?

CJsSeveredHead · 19/10/2010 15:13

Oh, he fought a battle and won, but it's not right. He's an upstart.

But it looks as though his brother might be doing some of my dirty work for me ...

EvilAntsAndMiasmas · 19/10/2010 15:26

Doing in the kids, you mean?

Sounds either Shakespearean or Round Tableish...but tbh more like history than anything else.

CJsSeveredHead · 19/10/2010 19:58

And who does historical fiction most successfully at the moment? [hwink]

By the way, the boys are dead. Nothing to do with me, honest. [hhmm]

Pogleswooooo · 19/10/2010 20:26

You are, aren't you -you're Margaret Beaufort?!
No idea in what book, but Richard 3 is heaps better than your son,so there...
On a separate note, you did cross my mind earlier, but I couldn't quite reconcile you with "humble and devout" Grin

CJsSeveredHead · 19/10/2010 20:57

Ah, Pogle, it's just the version I've read. The Red Queen, Philippa Gregory - load of old nonsense, I'm sure! DP bought it for me and I was a bit Hmm but it was a page-turner, quite annoyingly.

According to PG (who totally makes stuff up to suit her stories) Margaret Beaufort thought she was channelling Joan of Arc. Nutty as a fruitcake.

(Talking of bonkers historical fiction, I'm watching Pillars of the Earth - it's hilarious!)

Have a slightly battered red rose of Lancaster as a prize!

llandb · 19/10/2010 23:01

Just paddling along to say that I'm completely rubbish, haven't read thread, but hello, and where's the lamb?

Poledra · 19/10/2010 23:44

Dammit dammit dammit, I had clicked who you were (whilst bathing the DDs tonight) but someone got here before me. Pox on you, Pogleswoo, but having time to MNet earlier than me Angry

EvilAntsAndMiasmas · 20/10/2010 00:05

Hi llandb! how are things in the land of wherever you are?

EvilAntsAndMiasmas · 20/10/2010 00:08

Well I guessed the right kids, but got my Margarets mixed up and eliminated them all from my enquiries. Might have to read that CJ - blooming love historical fiction.

"Pox on you, Pogleswooo" - this might become my default curse phrase [hsmile]

Pogleswooooo · 20/10/2010 07:35

Smile Sorry,Pol!

I am slightly Hmm,or even Shock or Confused at the thought of being immortalised in a default curse phrase!! What did I do??

I must read that though,it's a long time since I read any good historical fiction about that period.

Anyway...

In the circumstances I'm glad I didn't stick to normal witch magic - I'm going to need the power from the dark side.Being half demon has its benefits too...

EvilAntsAndMiasmas · 20/10/2010 10:06

Okay okay Pogleswooo, I won't [hsmile]

Pogleswooooo · 20/10/2010 12:38

Ants,I think it all depends what your family do.If they keep you locked in a cellar all day and feed you on scraps, then YANBU.If they won't let you stay out till 2am/go out with that boy/eat all the chocolate cake/colour in the wallpaper (delete where not applicable) then YAprobablyBU! [hsmile]

MCP...

EvilAntsAndMiasmas · 20/10/2010 13:32

Mmm, damn, I wish I'd done a different one now, but will persist. It's easy anyway so won't last long!

...I am not locked in a cellar and I'm not eating anything at all, going out isn't really an option either. I just can't help wishing that they were a bit more glamorous. Plus there's a family curse which doesn't sound very nice...

llandb · 20/10/2010 15:56

EvilAnts, are you starving yourself, or are you someone who doesn't generally need to eat?

Pogleswooooo · 20/10/2010 16:04

Well, unless the curse involves watervoles or horses I'm none the wiser...

Sad about your cat,llandb.

...well,things are getting difficult here - the evil spirit seems to be after my daughter,my partner (an angel, not my DP) isn't being much help - I think the Fates hate me....

EvilAntsAndMiasmas · 20/10/2010 16:42

LLandB - so sorry about your cat. Ginger cats are lovely.

NI about your Pogle....but I don't think I've read anything like that so best wait for some other nutters who like goblins more avid readers :)

No horses of watervoles, just a habit of dying young. And twins in the family, but that's not really a curse. I'm not starving myself just don't need to eat at the moment.

Pogleswooooo · 20/10/2010 16:55

No goblins, honest! Just witches, necromancers, cabal sorcerers, half blood demons,werewolves,mediums.....need I go on? That makes them sound quite gruesome, but they aren't all that -I have a very low horror tolerance threshold!

Prolific author and quite googleable if any one wants to try!

NI at all on yours yet - MCP!
