AIBU Books Game Part Seven

Hi all, here we are again ...

As always, everyone welcome to pile in with AIBU book synopses, as long as you bring ice cream or something equally tempting for when we're stuck.

To continue mine - I'm in charge but it's terribly difficult to keep control. I don't know how long I can keep their respect. I didn't ask to be in charge ...

Snort at the idea of Pointless being beatified!

...Probably not.It was all going so well - we rode around for a bit,and then she took me home. She let me kiss her...sigh....

Pogleswood · 06/10/2010 16:58

X post snorting!

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 06/10/2010 17:01

Oh no! Are you alone and palely loitering?

If so, stop that and get back to work!

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 06/10/2010 17:04

TBH Pogle I think it all started to go wrong when you gave her kisses four.

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 06/10/2010 18:25

AIBU to worry about my son's relationship?

MoominMymbleandMy · 06/10/2010 18:49

Aha, I agree you're B very U then, Pogle. Go home and muck out the stable or polish your armour instead of moping after a one-night stand!

I'm delighted you've got a copy of Post-Captain and now slightly nervous that you won't love it since Aubrey and Maturin occupy much the same place in my heart as the Marlows.

Elephants, I think martyrdom is more in CJ's mind than beatification, but I can start work on a tinsel halo. Grin

MCP on your son!

...Well, we do need to move. We're in an apartment which a Japanese couple had to leave because they were being interned. I think it was very nice of them to tell us it was going to be vacant and I still feel like a grave robber. But it's too small for my two DDs, my second DH and me...

Poledra · 06/10/2010 21:47

What was yours, Pogle?

Moomin, your is making me think of the Camomile Lawn, but it's not that. MCP!

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 07/10/2010 00:15

He's been spending time with a most unsuitable woman - more of a girl really. I do hope he's not taking the whole thing too seriously...

Pogleswood · 07/10/2010 13:24

I was the knight alone and palely loitering from La Belle Dame sans Merci,Pol.

MCP!

MoominMymbleandMy · 08/10/2010 11:32

Morning, all!

Is he planning to marry her, Elephants? MCP!

...And it's very noisy and my poor DH is working nightshifts so we thought it would be quieter on one of the islands. And they are commutable so we won't burying ourselves whatever the DDs say...

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 08/10/2010 11:50

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm thanks Moomin!

...Heaven forbid! He has a very nice cousin from Town who is far more our kind of person. I will keep inviting her for weekends and hope this other business dies away...

MoominMymbleandMy · 08/10/2010 17:50

No idea who you are, Elephants, but I've a feeling your plan won't work.

MCP!

...We'll have to get up hideously early to catch the ferry to work but it can't be worse than getting up early to clean out a lot of smelly chickens...

Pogleswood · 08/10/2010 19:19

FWIW,Moomin,I'm not sure ferry with no road access fits most people's definition of commutable, but I agree it is probably better than the chickens.Possibly anything would be better than the chickens...

What is so unsuitable about this girl,Elephants? Is it simply her age? MCP!

MoominMymbleandMy · 08/10/2010 23:28

Ooh, well done indeed, Pogle, have some Onions to put In The Stew.Smile

I was wondering whether your absence meant you were hooked on Post Captain. When I first read them no one got any sense out of me for days. Mind you, judging by this thread, I'm not sure anyone does now!

I saw an AF thread floating about earlier - and not one of us was on it! Most remiss.

AIBU to like the lodger better than my family?

CJCregg · 09/10/2010 09:11

Hi all! Sorry I've been away - RL got busy, and sometimes I just stare at the thread and think my brain is made of cotton-wool ...

Moomin, are your sisters only interested in acting and dancing, while you're much more into cars?

An AF thread? WHERE?

How dare they have an AF thread and not invite us? Grin

OP posts:
Pogleswood · 09/10/2010 10:34

Hi!
Yes,how well one knows that brain turned to cotton wool feeling!
I do have days when I fancy a nice session on MN,and everything I look at gives me cotton wool brain...
In fact,on some days RL has the same effect...

Haven't started Post Captain yet.I've had a week where I've been busy but it is hard to say with what,so I can't even look back with a sense of accomplishment on the many things I've achieved!

MoominMymbleandMy · 09/10/2010 12:17

Afternoon, all!

So where's the glorious weather we were promised for today?

I often look at this thread and am convinced my brain has turned to mush.

Here is the AF thread. I only had a chance to skim through a few posts yesterday but it had the familiar ring of fanatical enthusiasm. That's why I was surprised none of us were on it. Grin

...I've only got one sister and she's a pain. But we are all musical. What's a car?...

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 10/10/2010 18:45

It's not just her age Pogle, we know next to nothing about her! She's spending an awful lot of time with my DS at all hours of the day and night - heaven knows what her family must think.

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 10/10/2010 18:47
MoominMymbleandMy · 11/10/2010 17:06

Sunny here too today.Smile I even have hopes of conquering the laundry mountain.

Is this girl fond of poetry and handicapped by an impossible family, Elephants?

...He sat with me and told me stories when I was sick....

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 11/10/2010 18:12

It's not goosefat then either?

Why is he living with you then moomin? He sounds really nice.

...I believe she is! The grandmother at any rate sounds rather a shocker. Do you think I can distract him with this big party we're organising?

Pogleswood · 11/10/2010 20:11

Ooooh...Ok!

Nice one,Elephants!

Moomin,I've now started Post Captain and wasn't being distracted by it,because I was ungripped by the beginning, and felt it was developing into one of those books where I didn't like anyone(particularly Diana,in this case!).Then suddenly I found myself hooked...am now planning how to get hold of HMS Surprise!

They won't be able to occupy the same place in my heart as the Marlows though,as that place is already taken by Francis Crawford and Philippa....Smile

MCP - I'm sure I know yours...

MoominMymbleandMy · 11/10/2010 20:35

Hooray! I am so pleased you are hooked, Pogle - it's just like a DC coming home with a gold star!

So am I getting a clettering twig or a liddle mop as a prize please, Elephants?

Pogleswood · 11/10/2010 21:39
Smile

Not sure a liddle mop will help much with the lamb either - maybe you should hold out for some sukebind, that'd be different!

So what's happened to his friend then?

I'm sure I know this

MoominMymbleandMy · 11/10/2010 22:25

Nooo! not sukebind! Pointless is much too young and where would he/she find a mate adrift at sea anyway.

...They said he knew too much so they got rid of him....
