AIBU Books Game Part Seven

Hi all, here we are again ...

As always, everyone welcome to pile in with AIBU book synopses, as long as you bring ice cream or something equally tempting for when we're stuck.

To continue mine - I'm in charge but it's terribly difficult to keep control. I don't know how long I can keep their respect. I didn't ask to be in charge ...

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 28/09/2010 21:16

:o I will try to think of one...

I have an idea about yours, but I really don't want it to end! Am very intrigued about where it's going to go next.

Is it all...rather teatimey round your gaff? :)

CJCregg · 28/09/2010 21:25

Well, you could say that. I suppose. If you like crumpets.

They're all starting to arrive. It's ever so exciting. Some quite extraordinary types, very colourful and fascinating. One of them's a musician, we might have a bit of a party tonight!

Get on with it.

OP posts:
ElephantsAndMiasmas · 28/09/2010 21:35

But I feel as if I've done every known book already!

Alright

If I start one can I come along to the party? Any idea what the phase of the moon is tonight?

AIBU to be tiring of handicrafts?

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 28/09/2010 21:39

oh and yes I do rathe like crumpets, are you offering?

CJCregg · 28/09/2010 21:43

Have some jam, and jelly, and bread!

And you have to dance with the Pobble - he may have no toes but he makes up for it with his snake hips, believe me Grin

So - handicrafts lost their allure, eh? Basket weaving? Knitting? Are you a Tricoteuse?

OP posts:
ElephantsAndMiasmas · 28/09/2010 21:55

I've heard about him :)

But...crumpets? Not so crumpetty after all eh?

...Not far off. I just don't really feel like I'm getting anywhere. Just an excuse to get away from it all really...

CJCregg · 28/09/2010 22:07

Only crumpetTY. As in 'of the crumpet persuasion', not actual crumpets, I don't think. Or not in my edition, anyway - they look quite green and leafy, not really very tasty.

Now, would you possibly be doing some weaving? And not getting very far with it because it mysteriously gets unpicked every night?

OP posts:
ElephantsAndMiasmas · 28/09/2010 22:09

..Well, wouldn't you? Houseguests are such a bore and I'm loving the single life missing my husband terribly.

CJCregg · 28/09/2010 22:15

Do you sometimes hope suspect that he'll never come home? It has been a few years now. I'm sure he'll be proud of your prickteasing unswerving loyalty if and when he does make it back. (Do you think he's been just as faithful? Hmm)

Where IS everyone?

I shall have to sacrifice the lamb ...

OP posts:
ElephantsAndMiasmas · 28/09/2010 22:28

OI!

CJCregg · 28/09/2010 22:34

All right, all right, I was only teasing ... trying to bait Moomin back Grin

I value my AFs far too much to actually do anything to the little bastard cutie.

By the way, if anyone's interested, my gorgeous, good-humoured, slightly shy 7-year-old DS said 'fucking hell' for the first time today. I am quite gobsmacked. He looked quite petrified and of course was told never to utter those words again. Goodbye, age of innocence.

OP posts:
ElephantsAndMiasmas · 28/09/2010 23:34

Ooh dear CJ, sounds like he's ready for kidsnet. :o

MoominMymbleandMy · 29/09/2010 00:27

Evening all! Isn't a lamb down your front a bit tickly, Elephants? But most heroic of you.

You do want your AFs back, don't you, CJ? Not auctioned on Ebay to fund therapy for a traumatised lamb

My DD, 12, claims she knows all the swear words (she doesn't Grin) and adds she learnt most of them from me, which is very possibly true. Blush

Now you've been and gorn and guessed them all!

Have some ginger wine (non alcoholic). Latest discovery, very yummy and nothing like the vile ginger beer guzzled by Blyton characters.

...And now my friend's recommended her for a top job instead of the obvious and far more suitable candidate. And I've thrown away the proof that she cheated...

PS Elephants, I bought a copy of Restoration on someone's recommendation but it seems to have disappeared. It may be lurking in the unopened boxes in the garage - I think they're breeding.

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 29/09/2010 00:33

no, no don't mind me Moomin

Is it that Stone's stuff Moomin? I reeeeally love it, DP warms it up in the winter. Oh damn is it the winter now then? :(

...yours is mystifying me Moomin. Is is a medical job? Or more of a mystical one?

Are we hanging by A Thread?

MoominMymbleandMy · 29/09/2010 00:48

Nope, it's this one and I am rapidly polishing off the crate all by my greedy self. So if you want some, hurry up!

We've buried this thread at least twice before and it revived so don't worry, Elephants. The prospect of doing something useful always sends us scurrying back. Grin

...Not medical or mystical but teaching! But she's dead now, poor wretch...

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 29/09/2010 01:05

pour me a flagon, Moomin!

Filing cabinet is open at "books featuring teachers of pathology" but sadly drawing a blank...

AIBU to suspect my fiance's fidelity?

MoominMymbleandMy · 29/09/2010 01:21

One flagon duly coming up.Grin

What a night owl you are, Elephants, nearly as bad as me. Oh, and thank you for the puppy. I expect the cats will get used to him in time.

...She would have been teaching physical training. Pathology was just part of the course. The other candidate will get the post now so I suppose it was very convenient that the cheat fractured her skull in that freak accident...

Hmm, depends on the fiance, I reckon. MCP!

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 29/09/2010 01:27

Just realised it's all a bit "cheating themed" atm!

Yes I work best at night annoyingly enough, so up late now trying to get all my projects finished...need sleep really!

Glad you like the puppy, he's a cutie and hopefully better behaved than his master.

ooh school killers! exciting stuff. Did you do it? Shock

...I lurve him, and I've known him all my life, but soometimes it seems like the fates are conspiring to tear us apart.

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 29/09/2010 01:28
MoominMymbleandMy · 29/09/2010 12:58

Hope you got the projects finished, Elephants. Nothing like a looming deadline for galvanizing you into action.

The puppy will go for the snip anyway so that should cure him of any plans to emulate his former master.

You're sounding mythical or ballad-y, Elephants, MCP!

... But it was a freak accident, wasn't it? She jumped up to the boom and it wasn't fastened at one end. I do wonder about that shoe button found in the gym, though...

CJCregg · 29/09/2010 15:09

Elephants, are you another epic/tragic heroine? Or a bit more contemporary?

Moomin, I love the sound of yours but have absolutely no idea what it is Grin

OP posts:
ElephantsAndMiasmas · 29/09/2010 15:26

Correction - not a fiance, just checked.

Read "true love" instead.

...I'm not an epic heroine, just a girl who has been forced to forsake her true love and get engaged to his foster-brother...

CJCregg · 29/09/2010 15:52

Oh no, Elephants! Are you on the Yorkshire Moors? I can't see it ending well ...

OP posts:
CJCregg · 29/09/2010 15:56

Hmm, I might have got that one wrong, actually. It's all that blasted bleating, I can't tell you how distracting it is.

OP posts:
ElephantsAndMiasmas · 29/09/2010 16:18

...Not on the Yorkshire Moors, but in the Westcountry. For now at least - I fear I will have to run away from my father's house before I am wed to the odious man...
