AIBU?

It goes, knives, forks, spoons, knives, forks, spoons....

1000 replies

RatherBeOnThePiste · 19/01/2010 18:46

It always has
Knives, forks, spoons..... always

AI therefore BU to be irritated beyond belief that when DH unloads the sodding dishwasher that he cannot get it right? He always puts them in random places in our cutlery tray, but never knives, forks, spoons

I suspect he does it like this so that I stop asking him to do it, but we have been together for 15 years!

Knives, forks, spoons or AIBU?!!

If thre is no autonomy, you may get a mutiny. As long as you realise.

Pity about the rest of the house (the kitchen is usually reasonably clean and tidy though)!

The order of our cutlery and crockery changes daily.

DH actualy LAYS CUPS AND GLASSES ON THIER SIDE!!
He smiles knowingly when I mention it. I have been known to say "No no, I'll do it!", so his ploy is obviously workig.

So there are three of us who do it properly as far as I can see - spoons forks knives.

RustyBear makes a good point about nesting spoons in the dishwasher too. Personally I rather enjoy taking the basket over to the cutlery drawer and pulling things out at random. My kitchen is quite new though and I'm sure the novelty will wear off (actually the fact that I haven't emptied said dishwasher and put things away since I ran it yesterday is clearly evidence that the attraction is already waning)

Baby kinves & forks at the side. Baby spoons in the teaspoon bit.

Shame on those who devate from the system.

Oh this thread has touched me in a way no other thread has, at least since the mug hierarchy one anyway.

This pains me on a literal day to day basis. I really feel at last someone understands me

(You are quite wrong though, it's fork, knife, spoon, teaspoon)

Forks, knives, spoons! Like a laid table bar the spoon. Fork, knife, fork, knife, fork knife. You oddos.

But then the children's cutlery would be on the right. And that can't be correct, surely? Because the children's cutlery clearly goes next to the teaspoons and once you're on the spoon track, you continue. Obviously.

I notice that no one puts the knives in the middle though and I find that heartening

he lays them on their side?!
That makes our 'upside down' vs 'right way up' fight meaningless!

you

There may be support groups for people like you who get something some simple so wrong. How can it go fork, knife, spoon, teaspoon as you say?

If there is no existing group, maybe you can start one

But, but... but it's so bloody obvious!

Of COURSE the forks go on the left because they go on the left of our plates. Then the knives. Then we contiune in the large cutlery theme with the spoons and finally we finish with the teaspoons.

How can so many people be so wrong

spoons, forks, knives

which I find annoying as DP gets spoons and forks mixed up, however I can't change it to have knives in the middle (which I think he would find easier) as I need the longer bit of the cutlery thing for the knives

Nobody discuss this in the playground tomorrow, because you will only embarrass yourself in front of your PTA, unless of course you have correct cutlery drawer etiquette and you go

KNIVES
FORKS
SPOONS

am shouting now

No dishwasher but cutlery tray goes (first drawer) knives, forks, spoons, serving spoons, space, fork for dog food. Alongside are pens to write on the Arse Board. Teaspoons and cake forks at front. Second drawer goes: beastly knives and forks that I am not allowed to throw out, decent cooking knives and cooking scissors. Bottom drawer is very much better than it used to be since most of original contents went out 5 skips ago.

Is this thread all to do with dishwashers? I have a DH don't have one, just a general wire thingy which lives on the draining board. I don't give a fuck what goes where to be honest as long as the sharp knives are put back in the block.
