I'm genuinly interested in why you object to homosexuality, and everytime I ask on the other thread it gets lost in the general hubbub.

So - name change if you want, but please tell me what your objections are?

If it's because it's not natural or against biology, please expand your answer to include why you care about that.

Show your working for extra credit.

n.b. Don't bother if it's a religous justification, you'll need to find someone who believes in that kind of stuff to debate with as I'll just dismiss that out of hand. If you are a homopohbic religous person with a secular objection then please go ahead.

Sorry - are we supposed to be tolerant of bigotry and discrimination now?

Even when there are people out there suffering the ultimate consequences of it, in the form of homophobic violence?

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 11/12/2009 23:33

This is kind of off-topic, but if you can't wax philosophical on the MN graveyard shift....

I see a lot of posts, 'MNers think this', 'ganging up on dissidents', 'bullying', 'jumping on anyone who disagrees with the liberal consensus'... like we're one amorphous mass of PCness.

Do you think that MN's 'clean' style - no tickers, no sigs, no avatars, no font change - gives us an appearance of uniformity of thought that is unjustified?

In another tab I have open a (music-related) forum where everyone has a different avatar and signature, and you can post in different fonts/colours if you really feel it's necessary. So if you post something contentious, you will get, say, a dozen people disagreeing with you in a dozen different styles. And it's clear that a dozen people think you're a fuckwit.
OTOH, if you post something contentious on MN, you'll get a dozen identically formatted posts disagreeing with you, and it seems like The World Of MN is disagreeing with you, and you'll maybe start to have a strop about liberal nazis and not being allowed to have an opinion (see above).

Just throwing this out there, as people seem to be feeling a sense of oppression that isn't really backed up by the content of posts.

daftpunk · 11/12/2009 23:38

standandeliver;

think you're missing the point all us homophobics are making...

go back and read the posts by smallwhitecat

i'm outta here..

have a good weekend y'all

WilfSell · 11/12/2009 23:38

Bottom line is: bigots are quite a bit thick.

daftpunk · 11/12/2009 23:40

lol....

yeah right...

pooexplosionsonthedustyroad · 11/12/2009 23:42

I think they just like to feel a sense of opression, because then they can a) do a poor me, the nasty pc bullies are all against me, diverting attention from their bilious viewpoint and b)because they are genuinely surprised to be in a minority viewpoint, being used to getting away with such nonsense outside the rarified sensibility of mn.
And cos them minorities is all wrong innit.

onebatmother · 11/12/2009 23:42

Is there a moral obligation to reason with bigotry?

pooexplosionsonthedustyroad · 11/12/2009 23:44

Now now, DP, don't pretend you understand anyones point, theres a good bigot girl, we can all see you don't understand your own.
Go on now and bore insult someone else and then pretend you never meant it, I think there are some muslims or immigrants around you could rant at instead, give yourself a nice change.
