I'm genuinly interested in why you object to homosexuality, and everytime I ask on the other thread it gets lost in the general hubbub.

So - name change if you want, but please tell me what your objections are?

If it's because it's not natural or against biology, please expand your answer to include why you care about that.

Show your working for extra credit.

n.b. Don't bother if it's a religous justification, you'll need to find someone who believes in that kind of stuff to debate with as I'll just dismiss that out of hand. If you are a homopohbic religous person with a secular objection then please go ahead.

I'd appreciate that melted, its a genuine question. Thanks.

Flightattendant · 11/12/2009 11:13

I'm not sure exactly what I think about people who don#t think homosexuality is right/proper/ a good thing etc etc

BUT what I WHOLLY object to is people making RUDE, lazy and puerile remarks about what 'they' look like.

That's insulting and stupid. Yes, Notanamechanger I'm talking about you.
Grow up ffs!

ooojimaflip · 11/12/2009 11:17

daftpunk - why is what is natural relevant to anything?

No one ever seems to answer this.

OP posts:
ooojimaflip · 11/12/2009 11:18

The 'forced on children' issue is somewhat seperate - if homosexuality is accepted then it would be part of sex education, if not then I suppose not.

OP posts:
Tortington · 11/12/2009 11:18

people who say the 'dont want it happening in front of me' type comments.

do you often get people fucking in front of you?

ooojimaflip · 11/12/2009 11:19

Actually to restate that better, I think that if you do not want Homosexuality to be part of sex education, than you first have to demostrate a problem with Homosexuality.

OP posts:
ChickensHaveNoTinsel · 11/12/2009 11:26

I don't understand the 'gayness being forced on ickle children' thing. How and where is this happening, exactly?

ooojimaflip · 11/12/2009 11:27

daftpunk - is (for you at least) the 'not natural' issue at it's root a religous one? I.e. that as you beleive in God you believe that humantity has a 'purpose' and therefore it is wrong to go against our nature?

OP posts:
sparechange · 11/12/2009 11:57

I don't have anything to add to this thread (which is brilliant, btw, and is restoring my faith in humanity one witty yet well constructed comment at a time ) other than I read something a few years ago which said that researchers have confirmed that along with humans, dolphins are another species which has sex purely for pleasure.

They know this because they are the only other species so far identified where the female will have sex when she is pregnant.

So I hope all those who think homosexual sex is disgusting and unnatural because it will never lead to procreation also keep the DHs filthy paws of them when they are pregnant, because if they were ever to give in to hormone horn, they would be no better than those gay apes...

LetThereBeRock · 11/12/2009 12:10

This has to be the most depressing thread that I've ever read on MN.

I had to step away from it last night as my only contribution would have been to tell all of the homophobes to fuck off, because that's exactly what I wanted to do, because the comments were so bloody offensive, crass and ignorant. Ooji, Lenin etc dealt with it very well, but I wasn't able to do so with grace so I stepped away.

I will never understand bigots and I don't care to. Yes you have the right to spout your views, but we've also the right to disagree with you and use the appropriate term, homophobe, when you, that's a general you, make it obvious that that's what you are. Bigots should not be a protected species.

amystev · 11/12/2009 12:21

Right - I've spent the last God knows how long reading this thread, so I now want to add my 5p's worth.

My own opinion on homosexuality is, well, nothing. I have no opinion. I don't have an opinion on heterosexuality either, or bisexuality, or abstinence. To me it would be like having an opinion on someone's favourite colour or pizza topping. If someone prefers to have sex with someone of their own gender or someone of the opposite gender, how does that affect me or my kids? I simply do not give a rat's arse who anyone else chooses to have sex with, and don't really understand why other people get so riled by what is essentially none of anyone else's business.

As far as teaching my kids what is 'right' and 'wrong', I shall teach them that some people like men, some like women, some like both, some like neither. It's what my mum taught me, and it seemed to work.

gagamama · 11/12/2009 12:23

I don't understand how people can 'not agree' with homosexuality. What is there to agree with? It's not a statement or a suggestion which invites your input, it's an actual state of being. You wouldn't say you 'don't agree' with brunettes, or left-handedness, or facial deformities. Even if you simply 'don't agree' with gay sex, do most people actually conduct a straw poll before fornicating to make sure everyone is in agreement? Of course not. Why is 'agreement' of anyone else even important? It just seems deeply weird.

daftpunk · 11/12/2009 12:24

lettherebrrock;

you just don't get it do you....?

i have to check back on my posts to see if i've written them in swahili or something...

homosexuals can do what they like, i've said a million times i don't care what they do to each other....but it doesn't mean what they do is right and acceptable to the majority of people..

and if sex is only small part of being a homosexual...why have they got so many rights..?

a lesbian will have more rights at work than i have..

why is that..?

ChickensHaveNoTinsel · 11/12/2009 12:28

Er, what? How does a lesbian have more rights than you at work?

LetThereBeRock · 11/12/2009 12:29

More rights than you have? Bullshit. What rights do they have that you don't have?

And you might as well have written them in Swahili for all the sense your 'explanations' make to me.

daftpunk · 11/12/2009 12:35

what you don't get letthereberock....is by calling me a bigot, just because i won't accept something you believe in....you're being a bigot...

it's all pretty easy to understand....

maybe i should type slowly for you...

pooexplosionsonthedustyroad · 11/12/2009 12:35

"i've said a million times i don't care what they do to each other....but it doesn't mean what they do is right and acceptable to the majority of people.."

those 2 comments directly contradict each other. Which is it?

As for rights at work, surely you are well protected by the equality legislation that protects brainless dribbling bigoted imbeciles from discrimination?

Moron.

amystev · 11/12/2009 12:35

"and if sex is only small part of being a homosexual...why have they got so many rights..?"

I have literally no idea what on earth you mean by this sentence.

LetThereBeRock · 11/12/2009 12:39

Don't patronise me DP. And you could type it one word per hour but your bigoted bullshit would contain no more logic for me than it currently does.

I'll quite happily hold my hand up and say I'm proud that I am an anti bigot. A bigotphobe if you like.
I've no problem with thinking that those who try to deny others their basic rights, who want people to be treated differently simply because of their sexuality, are wrong and should not be a protected species.

ChickensHaveNoTinsel · 11/12/2009 12:40

Still waiting for an example of these special 'lesbian rights'.

hollybrainfestivepants · 11/12/2009 12:41

dp, please can you explain your "lesbians have more rights at work" statement cos tis clearly bollocks .

GhostofMintyCandyCane · 11/12/2009 12:44

....as I have said before daftpunk is just scary

LetThereBeRock · 11/12/2009 12:45

I've actually no idea why I even try to debate/argue this matter with DP when I've done so on a number of occasions and gained nothing from it other than high blood pressure. I'll learn one day.

And I too am very much interested in hearing about those extra special lesbian only rights.

daftpunk · 11/12/2009 12:45

homosexuals have extra rights at work...

if they were sacked, they could take the empoyer to court and claim sexual orientation discrimination or something...and they'd win..

LetThereBeRock · 11/12/2009 12:48

DP If you were also discriminated against because for example you're female, you could also take your employers to court and you may win.

So tell me again why they have more rights than you?
